Minecraft Movie Quotes refers to a series of memes and brainrot edits that speed up and slow down one-off quotes from A Minecraft Movie, usually uttered by actor Jack Black as his character Steve. The trend started after the film's first trailer was released in late 2024, especially as viewers noticed that Jack Black said many things from the Minecraft game verbatim. Meme creators and internet users then started combining all of the verbatim quotes into compilation videos, including I Am Steve, Chicken Jockey, Zero Limits and Flint and Steel. Heading into 2025, TikTokers and other social media users started ranking the Minecraft Movie quotes, including others like "Release," "The Nether" and "Coming in hot!"

On September 4th, 2024, the first teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie was released online.[1][2] Many meme creators focused on Jack Black as Steve saying, "I am Steve," for the first slew of viral posts.[3]
On February 27th, 2025, the final trailer for A Minecraft Movie was shared online.[4] Many meme creators focused on Jack Black as Steve saying, "Chicken jockey," such as X[5] user @crazyrabbitreal, who shared the first-known Chicken Jockey meme on the day (shown below).

On March 1st, X[6] user @theenderestman tweeted, "The Minecraft movie trailers but only when Jack Black says something from the game verbatim," attaching a compilation of soundbites that fit the caption. Over one month, the tweet gained over 6.4 million views and 89,100 likes (shown below). The tweet largely started the Minecraft Movie Quotes trend that later developed.

In the following weeks, meme creators across video platforms drew attention to new quotes from the A Minecraft Movie trailers as the memes continued to spread on the internet.

On March 22nd, 2025, TikToker[9] @steve.bong centered on the quote, "They love crushin' loaf," gaining over 731,200 likes in 12 days (shown below).

On March 30th, TikToker[10] @fazbear231 ranked 41 of the A Minecraft Movie quotes from the trailers, amassing over 182,400 likes in four days (shown below).

"Flint And Steel, Chicken Jockey, I Am Steve" Credits Song
On March 24th, 2025, TikToker[11] @drewplu shared a video of himself singing what he imagined would be the film's credits song. The song was similar to the "I Am Placing Blocks and Shit" parody song. Over 10 days, the video received over 402,200 likes (shown below).
The video sparked a viral TikTok sound[12] that was used by others thereafter.
