About

Tempo House Renovation Edits or Me When I Get My Own House refers to a series of videos using several green-screen templates of a team renovating a house where an image appears on the walls and floors as the team paints and cleans. The templates are available on the "Tempo" music video maker app on Android and iOS and went viral starting in July 2022 in edits, often where an ironic meme image or an image of someone the poster stans is revealed as the workers renovate the house.

Origin

The house renovation templates, available on the Tempo app, were popularized on TikTok in July 2022. Some of the earliest videos using the template were posted to TikTok on July 16th, 2022. For example, on that date, TikToker[1] @jlvrrs posted a video where Steve Harrington from Stranger Things is revealed under the renovations, garnering over 1.1 million views in a month (shown below).

On August 21st, a Redditor posted to /r/MemeTemplatesOfficial[5] asking for the source of the meme, providing the Better Call Saul edit as an example, garnering over 3,500 upvotes in a day.
