About

Bee Raising Eyebrows refers to a CapCut template and TikTok meme that shows a cartoon, baby bee looking surprised and then raising its eyebrows multiple times, ending its expression with a kissy face. The meme expressed approval from the meme's subject over a specific object or concept. The original video was made using a "Bee" Snapchat filter called "Bee Lens" and uploaded to TikTok in mid-2022. The template trended en masse in early 2023 and predominantly used two TikTok sounds: the song "Blicky" by Fresh X Reckless and the RXK Nephew, RX Papi and DJ Smokey song "Who Am I" which had the prominent producer tag, Holy Shit, This Some Hot Garbage, But I Can't Stop Listening.

Origin

Starting in June 2022, TikTokers[1] started making content using a Snapchat[2] filter called "Bee Lens" that showed the video's creator as a small, cute and floating baby bumblebee.

On July 7th, 2022, TikToker[3] @stomp_ posted a video that used the filter and showed themself looking surprised, raising their eyebrows multiple times and then making a kissy face. The video had text reading, "me cause you the finest mf on this entire planet," and over the course of eight months, it received roughly 896,400 plays and 146,000 likes (shown below, left). Due to the video's virality, a commenter asked for the video to be cropped. On July 7th, 2022, the TikToker[4] posted a cropped version to their secondary account @stompscrops, earning roughly 17,200 plays and over 630 likes in eight months (shown below, right).

Spread

Going into 2022, TikTokers used the cropped video to make their own content with the bee raising its eyebrows. For instance, the first known variant usage of the video was uploaded on July 12th, 2022, by TikToker[5] @justwitami, earning roughly 4,900 plays in eight months (shown below, left). Going into late 2022, the video got moldier and lower quality. For instance, on September 23rd, 2022, TikToker[6] @a.train8 posted a version that used a sound that said, "Shimmy shimmy yeah, shimmy yeah, shimmy ya… Drank, swalalala," earning roughly 219,900 plays and 9,500 likes in six months (shown below, right).
