About

"Every Good Girl Needs a Little Thug" Hands Dance refers to a TikTok dance trend using lyrics (What it is hoe? What's up? Every good girl needs a little thug. Every Black boy needs a little love) from the song "What It Is (feat. Kodak Black)" by Block Boy that evolved into an exploitable CapCut template showing two hands with long nails performing the dance. The template of the hands dancing was inserted over images, primarily of cats and dogs, making it appear as if the hands were the image's hands.

Origin

On May 21st, 2023, Indonesian TikToker[1] @sophiaaljufri uploaded a video that used the song "What It Is (feat. Kodak Black)" by Block Boy, in which she performed a hand-based dance. The video gained roughly 1 million plays and 75,600 likes in one month (shown below, left). Her dance inspired others to make their own videos, specifically within Indonesian TikTok in late May 2023. Then, on May 31st, 2023, TikToker[2] @maa_5050 uploaded a "tutorial" for the dance that showed just her hands and arms on a black background, gaining roughly 325,100 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).
