About
Me After Investing refers to a series of jokes and memes related to the WallStreetBets GameStop Short Squeeze, expressing mock reactions to making potentially catastrophic or insignificant investments with confidence and glee.
Origin
In January 2021, due to a campaign by users in the /r/WallStreetBets subreddit, the Gamestop stock experienced a massive surge in price, rising from $17 to over $500. The hype resulted in GameStop (GME) becoming of the most traded stocks on Wall Street that month, with a massive number of retail investors buying the stock in an attempt to force hedge funds betting against it into large losses.
Following the surge, on January 25th, Twitter user @ImJoshuaBacon posted a GIF from the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street.
