Mimmi is an anthropomorphic Finish lion created by Twitter user intfarm and has since been posted on Finish image board ylilauta and on 4chan's international board /int/.

Origin

On March 26th, 2019, Twitter user @intfarm posted a drawing of a Finnish lion character, gaining 5 retweets and 30 likes (shown below).^[1]

Spread

After the character was posted, it grew popular on 4chan's international boards including /int/ and /bant/, as commenters posted other drawings of the character the artist had done and either criticized the art or celebrated the character. For example, an /int/ thread about the character was posted on November 7th, 2019^[2] (shown below, left). Another thread posted May 24th, 2020, found their poster expressing their distaste for the character (shown below, right).

The popularity of the character inspired the creation of fan art and a gender-bent version of the character named Mikko (shown below).
