Mum Am I Adopted refers to a viral video in which YouTuber Tommyinnit asks his mother if he's adopted. She says "yes," and the camera zooms in on him. The clip inspired numerous remixes and parodies.

Origin

On April 22nd, 2019, YouTuber TommyInnit posted a 3,000 subscriber celebration video in which he answers Twitter user's questions,^[1] including a question asking if he was adopted. TommyInnit does a skit in which he asks his mom if he's adopted and she says "yes."

Spread

TommyInnit grew very popular over the following two years, and as of December 30th, 2020, has over 4.2 million subscribers. On October 14th, 2020, user Niepott posted the isolated clip, gaining over 13 million views (shown below).

In December of 2020, the clip inspired multiple remix clips. For example, on December 20th, 2020, user Meaning Of Life posted a keeps getting faster edit of the clip that gained over 2.3 million views (shown below, left). On December 26th, user Arcade Assassin posted a "Good Ending" edit of the clip that gained over 464,000 views (shown below, right).

On December 23rd, TommyInnit reacted to the clip on stream (shown below).
