Pear Baby, also known as Baby Pear, refers to a Photoshop image of a pear with a baby's face edited onto it. The original image was created by photographer Cotton Miller in 2010. The Pear Baby became a meme in 2024 and 2025, spreading on TikTok, Twitter / X and Instagram, among other social media sites. Pear Baby memes were often nonsensical brainrot memes, as they lacked a direct meaning and punchline. The image notably uses the same pear as the Pearto meme, which shows the face of virtual singer Kasane Teto. Variants of the Pear Baby meme with other fruits, like Orange Baby, also appeared in early 2025.

Origin

On August 2nd, 2010, photographer Cotton Miller posted a series of food-related photoshops to his WordPress^[1] website. One of them was a pear with a baby's face (shown below). Others included an old man onion and a banana smoking a cigarette.

Spread

The image started to get reposted en masse in 2024, evident in a post to the /r/PowerScaling^[2] subreddit on July 30th, 2024, though it did not receive significant engagement.

On October 15th, Instagram^[3] user @hugeplateofketchup8 posted an Impact font meme that read, "Fuck it, bear," acting as a portmanteau of "baby" and "pear." The post received over 3,600 likes in seven months (shown below).

On November 25th, 2024, Instagram^[4] user @goobabs shared a two-photo slideshow that showed the Pear Baby and an image of a bite taken out of it. Over six months, the post gained over 58,000 likes (shown below).

On February 12th, 2025, TikToker^[5] @bojangles6942069 posted an AI video that made the pear spin around. Over three months, the video received roughly 194,700 likes (shown below).

On April 21st, X^[6] user @Trakinas_irl tweeted the original pear and baby photo that, when combined, creates the Pear Baby photoshop. They captioned the images, "Something is… off…" gaining over 69,000 likes in a month (shown below).

Orange Baby

On December 23rd, 2024, Instagram^[8] user @realstiffy posted a variation of the Pear Baby meme, showing the baby's face on an orange with a Papyrus font captioned reading, "Perchance…" Over five months, the post gained over 149,600 likes (shown below).

On January 6th, 2025, Instagram^[7] user @realstiffy followed up on his creation in a meme that showed Pear Baby getting a text from Orange Baby, with Papyrus font text reading, "Pearchance…" Over four months, the meme received roughly 219,600 likes (shown below).

Instagram^[9] user @realstiffy added the baby's face to many fruits and vegetables heading into 2025.

Pearto is a meme inspired by Kasane Teto, a virtual singer similar to Hatsune Miku, that shows Teto's face photoshopped onto a pear. The meme supposedly originated in a Discord server dedicated to Kasane Teto and fans began posting "Pearto" fan art and memes to sites like Twitter X, YouTube and Instagram in late 2024 and early 2025.
