About
Burrito Blanket refers to a blanket by ZenLife designed to look like a tortilla. After pictures were posted online by a Twitter user, the product began to go viral, leading to the product quickly selling out and receiving coverage from several news publications.
History
On March 27th, 2019, Twitter user @katreenawhh[1] posted pictures of herself wrapped in the tortilla blanket, gaining over 23,000 retweets and 119,000 likes (shown below).
The pictures were posted to /r/INEEEEDIT[2] on March 31st, gaining over 17,000 points. As of April 5th, 2019, the blanket is sold out on Big Cartel.[3] Versions are available on Amazon[4] and Etsy.[5] It was covered by Cosmo[6] and Insider.[7] Following the spread of the blanket, Insider[8] discovered a tortilla blanket for babies made by another company.
Online Presence
The discovery of both the adult and baby versions of the tortilla blanket caused Twitter users to express enthusiasm for the products. User @sapunintended[9] gained over 190 retweets saying "imagine bringing a girl over and she finds out you sleep under a roomali roti" (shown below, left). User @crazylive posted "1 RT and ill buy this and make shawn be a human burrito for my m&g" gaining over 240 retweets (shown below, right). Both reactions were covered by Twitter Moments.[10][11]
