About

Loki is the name of a Disney+ TV show and Marvel Cinematic Universe character. Similar to Wandavision and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, the TV show primarily focuses on the character Loki.

Origin

Revealed in November of 2018, the series was supposed to come out much earlier, but similar to other Disney+ shows, it was delayed due to Covid-19. The trailer for the series was posted to IGN's YouTube channel on December 10th, 2020, receiving 15 million views in eight months (shown below).

With this increased time, the hype surrounding the show has increased, leading to a highly anticipated episode launch on June 9th, 2021. Shortly before this release date, a final trailer for the show was posted on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel on April 5th, 2021, gaining 19.7 million views in two months (shown below).

While episodes from the show continue to come out, the majority of current memes about the show are just that, about the show itself in a meta-contextual sense, instead of taking direct stills from the show to create memes. An example of this is from the /r/MarvelMemes Subreddit where Redditor TheAzrael2013 posted a Robotnik Pushing Red Button meme involving watching the newest episode of Loki over spending family time, earning 57 upvotes in three hours (shown below).
