On June 10th, 2019, at the E3 video game convention, Marvel and video game producer Square Enix released the trailer for the upcoming video game adaptation of the Marvel comic book characters The Avengers. Within 24 hours, the trailer received more than 4 million views (shown below).



Reception

Many reacted negatively to the character design in the game. Twitter[1] user @MedinaEriksson used an image from the film Space Balls, comparing the character to design to stunt doubles, "Well, they finally announced the avengers games, oh boy, that announcement was something else, haha." With 24 hours, the tweet received more than 5,000 likes and 1,400 retweets (shown below, left). The following day, the image was shared on the /r/marvelmemes subreddit [4] by Redditor RagnelI. The post received more than 16,000 points (96% upvoted) and 520 comments in 24 hours.

Throughout the day, others joked about the trailer. Twitter user @mode7heaven tweeted a photo of the characters and wrote, "I see why Hawkeye didn't show up" (shown below, center).[2] Twitter[3] user @alexisparade tweeted a photograph of a woman saying "This is good" with the caption "marvel fans pretending tony stark and captain america look good in the new avengers game." Within 24 hours, the tweet received more than 1,300 likes and 295 retweets (shown below, right).

The following day, the trailer was shared on the /r/PS4 subreddit by Redditor[5] Pyrocy779. The post received more than 10,000 points (87% upvoted) and 1,800 comments in 24 hours.
