About

YEAH! YOU WANT "THOSE GAMES," RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET'S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! is a video game developed by Monkeycraft and published by Japanese game publisher D3Publisher that was released in July 2023. The game consists of a series of minigames that resemble fake mobile game ads with the option to play as one of two stick figures.

History

On June 20th, 2023, Japanese game publisher D3Publisher announced and released the game YEAH! YOU WANT "THOSE GAMES," RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET'S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! on Steam and Nintendo Switch. The game is modeled after fake or lackluster video game advertisements one may see on the internet and includes games like pin pulling, test tube liquid swapping, moving cars in a parking lot, tower leveling and cash stack building (seen below).[1]

Online Presence

Upon release in June 2023, the game received generally positive reviews on Steam, with Steam user Miss Mayor recommending the game, saying, "Hilarious garbage shovelware ads made manifest into a playable product, brought to you by the developer of Katamari Damacy. It is exactly what the title reads on the tin. 7/10." Steam user Cloudst, however, did not recommend the game, saying "While the mini games are clearly taking influence from the ads you see around the internet. The game itself is pretty straight forward and repetitive."[2]

It is exactly what the title reads on the tin. 7/10 Overall, the package plays like a product from the early 2010's Gen 2 iPad-era mobile game, minus the energy meter time gate and microtransactions :). Nostalgic and charming, it's an easy sell. Really, the weakness is the games themselves. They don't have a long shelf life, and their fun runs very thin after 10-20-ish stages. I wish that there were more high-challenge levels, and perhaps if the controls were to be a little more refined. While the in-game gatcha system is nice, the level rewards are a nothing burger, unless you like global rankings. I do hope that this library of mini-games does expand over time, perhaps to a Match Three, Mafia City-esque RPG and idle farming sim. There is excellent potential in this title, and I hope they keep running with it. Was this review helpful? The game itself is pretty straight forward and repetitive. The other issue is there's not a lot of mini games that you'd expect from something like this (only like 5 mini games with multiple levels). I don't think this is a game that is worth $13 CAD, as it feels more like a Newgrounds type of game which is being priced pretty high. It is funny to see them make fun of those ad games that you see on the internet but the content is too minimal which ultimately that doesn't justify worth paying for this game imo.
