About

SueTok, also referred to as Sue Heck Lobotomy Core, is a viral series of extremely edited, filtered, and bass-boosted videos on TikTok that revolve around the character Sue Heck, acted by Eden Sher, from the hit sitcom The Middle. A majority of the content on SueTok is a clip from the 16th episode of Season 2, titled Hecks on a Plane.[1]

In the clip, Sue is seen coming home after winning a contest, followed by disdain from the family. The mother of the family then explains that the reason they were so indifferent was because most of the contest prizes Sue had previously won were mediocre. Alongside her explanation is a compilation of times Sue had won other contests, the prizes following shortly thereafter.

One of the key aspects in the videos on SueTok is the extreme editing of the dance Sue does after winning said contests, accompanied by her screaming. The pair of dancing and screaming is usually cut, repeated, overlapped, moved around, and sometimes reversed.

Another part of SueTok is the phrase “I won a contest”. This sentence is one of the first Sue says in a majority of the videos, and is a usual centerpiece of them on SueTok.

Origin

The meme started on January 7th, 2025, with the first video found of SueTok being one by the user bimbobbitty. The premise of the meme was originally to add an ironic twist on to analog horror, which many considered humorous due to the perception of The Middle being a lighthearted sitcom. The video almost instantly went over 100 thousand views, thus starting the meme.

Later that month, on January 16, content creator, meginct, started creating their own versions of SueTok. meginct created a SueTok that was similar to the video that kickstarted the trend (more analog horror-centric), while still adding much more comedic effect to their rendition. They also introduced sound effects, another staple of the SueTok community, akin to the ones used on FlopTok. The video instantly garnered over 500 thousand views.

On January 25, 2025, TikToker g0ldiek00pa majorly rebranded SueTok. They changed it around by editing their videos with less dark themes, more spontaneous sound effects, and ear rape. This new wave of the trend caught fire, with their video gaining almost 1 million views within a month.

After this post, user _ thomasbae _ created a rendition that adapted g0ldiek00pa’s editing style, with their post instead being much more saturated and filtered. This third wave furthered the popularity of SueTok in general.

Other content creators such as thephi11y and gyattrice have also created renditions of the meme, with videos that have also garnered hundreds of thousands of likes. The latter example posts primarily SueTok content, and has the most viral SueTok video with a staggering two million views.

Many viewers and commenters on people who post SueTok’s believe that the videos have a striking similarity to YouTube Poops and/or DeepTok.

“SueTok” Term Coining

The term SueTok itself was created on February 7th, under a video by the aforementioned user gyattrice. In the comment section of their video, titled sue gets boiled alive, user ticklesurholee said “commenting to stay on suetok”.[2]

gyattrice then replied to the comment on the same day, saying that the commenter was the first to have coined the term. Since then, the name “SueTok” has been fairly widespread.
