Origin
On April 8th, 2019, Maryangel Garcia Ramos[1] posted an image of herself in leopard print with the caption "So, I just saw an amazing photo of @Imani_Barbarin in such an amazing silver dress and that inspired me to want to see some cool AF disabled style for realz. #ThisisMyDisabledStyle. (Animal print, why not) Now show me yours!!" (shown below). The tweet gained 116 retweets and 630 likes in two days.
Spread
On April 8th, 2019, @SnoringDoggo[2] posted a set of pictures with the caption, "Big bold colors and lots of stimmy fabrics that swish! Also noise cancellers #ThisisMyDisabledStyle" (shown below, left). The tweet accumulated 90 likes in two days. @sethfan4eva[3] tweeted "In sweeping strokes of pink that match my favorite cane, my style expresses my neurodivergence and disability. When possible, my assistive devices are neon pink, because I want everyone to notice how fabulous they are and how proud of them I am. #ThisisMyDisabledStyle" and featured her style in multiple photos (shown below, right). The tweet garnered 79 likes in two days.
That same day, @Amy_Claire_x[4] (shown below, left) and @852BAM[5] (shown below, right) used the hashtag to show off the their style gaining 28 and 309 likes respectively in two days.
