Turning My Mom Into Me is a TikTok trend where a user's mom catwalks into the room in her normal clothing, walks out, then returns in clothes that her daughter would wear. The trend, set to "I Wish" by Skee-Lo, became popularized in December 2022.

Origin

On December 14th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @jasminfogeddd posted a video where she gets her dad to dress in her brother's clothing set to "I Wish," garnering over 2 million views in a week. On December 15th, TikToker^[2] @malindahlgren0 posted the first known "turning my mom into me" video following the same format, where their mom catwalks out wearing her own clothes, walks out and returns after a cut wearing her daughter's clothes, garnering over 4.2 million views in a week (shown below).

The trend became increasingly popular over the course of the month. On December 17th, 2022, TikToker^[3] @pedersenmalene posted a version of the trend that garnered over 12 million views in five days (shown below, left). Distractify^[4] published an article on the trend on December 20th. On December 21st, TikToker^[5] @chr1sti1na posted a video following the trend, garnering over 15 million views in a day (shown below, right).
