About

Victim Weight is a slang term popularized in male workout circles intended to apply to men under a certain weight threshold, with different definitions placing the threshold between 150 and 200 pounds. The term suggests men of "victim weight" are so small that they could easily be overpowered in a fight regardless of their fighting skills due to a potential size difference. The term has been met with significant pushback among fitness content creators and influencers online.

Origin

The term appears to have been coined by influencer @horsemeet around January 2023. It appears his original TikTok coining the term has been deleted, but the earliest known repost of the TikTok was posted on January 20th, 2023, by @laroywarner.[1] On May 17th, @horsemeet reposted the TikTok in which he coined "victim weight" to his Instagram[2] account, receiving over 88,000 likes in roughly a year (shown below).

Spread

Over the following year, the idea of "Victim Weight" was posted about by other TikTok creators. On January 25th, 2023, TikToker connorsiniann posted about the concept, gaining over 19,000 likes in one year (shown below, top). On January 27th, a definition for "Victim Weight" was added to Urban Dictionary[3] by user urbandictionaryteacher (shown below, bottom).

victim weight someone who is under 150 pounds. basically you're vulnerable to people who weigh much more than you since their strength and weight is likely to overpower anyone who is under 150 pounds. Guy 1: bro how much do you weigh? Guy 2: About 134 pounds bro. Guy 1: bro you're so light, literally any gym bro can bench press your body. you're a victim weight by urbandictionaryteacher January 27, 2023 f

The term sparked more debate following a November 1st, 2023, TikTok by user @lifeofstogie[4] that defined it as anyone under 175 pounds, gaining over 1.7 million views in three months (shown below, left). The new spread of the term led to people criticizing flaws in its logic.

For example, on December 29th, TikToker andrewfitness[5] posted a TikTok pointing out several problems with the idea, including pictures of well-toned men who weigh under 200 pounds as well as discussing how height plays a factor in a person's weight. The TikTok gained over 4,000 views in six weeks (shown below, right).
