Walk You Like a Dog or You Hoes Be Trippin' is a TikTok dance trend set to the song "Act Up" by DayDay where one person pretends to strike another, causing them to fall on the floor on their hands and knees, then acts out walking the person like a dog on a leash. The trend became popularized throughout August 2022.

Origin

On July 19th, 2020, rapper DayDay released a music video for the song "Act Up" to YouTube,[1] garnering over 2 million views in two years (shown below).

On August 8th, 2022, TikToker[2] @bananna_p posted a video where a woman pretends to walk a boy on a leash like a dog set to the song, garnering over 2.9 million views in a month (shown below). This is the earliest known video performing the dance trend, although it is unclear if it's the exact first.

Spread

The trend spread over the course of August 2022 under two original sounds on TikTok,[3][4] one gaining over 400,000 uses and the other gaining over 40,000, respectively, in roughly a month. On August 17th, 2022, TikToker[5] @popifornia posted a version of the trend performed by gymnasts, garnering over 12.1 million views in three weeks (shown below, left). On August 22nd, TikToker[6] @3.corey did the trend, garnering over 40 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).
