When I Ask My Boyfriend to Come Cuddle Me But I Forget How Muscular He Is is a redraw meme format inspired by a TikTok video in which a man pretends to struggle for breath while his partner lays on top of him under the caption, "When I ask my boyfriend to come cuddle me but I forget how muscular he is." The video was posted by TikToker @robin_rva in February 2023 and went viral, becoming the subject of redraws that same month on sites including X, Tumblr and Instagram.

On February 16th, 2023, TikToker[1] @robin_rva posted a video captioned, "When I ask my boyfriend to come cuddle me but I forget how muscular he is" set to an original sound consisting of audio in which someone sounds like they're drowning or struggling. In the video, a man lays on top of his partner on bed, the man underneath pretending to struggle for air. The video gained over 1.2 million views in just under two years.

On February 27th, X[2] user @avoeia_ posted a redraw of a frame from the video, drawing the men in the video as characters from the anime series Trigun, garnering over 10,000 likes and 1,500 reposts in around two years.

The video continued to be the subject of redraws over the following months. On March 17th, 2023, X[3] user @alzeaker posted a furry redraw of the image, garnering over 24,000 likes in around two years. On October 27th, X[4] user @ posted a redraw based on The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, garnering over 5,400 likes in a year.
On June 11th, 2024, Tumblr[5] user endlessvarse posted a redraw of the meme based on the Haikyuu!! ship pairing BokuAka, garnering over 5,900 notes in five months.
On November 5th, X[6] artist @Pink_OkaZel posted a redraw of the meme referencing The Legend of Zelda, in which Zelda is drawn crushing Link, garnering over 10,000 likes and 700 reposts in two days.
