About

The Yes You Can Trend is a lip-dub trend on TikTok in which users dance and lip sync to the unreleased Young Thug song "Yes You Can" over a caption about something that a person purportedly cannot or should not do, the implication being that you actually can do that thing. The trend was popularized on TikTok in mid-May 2025 and continued to prove popular leading into June, inspiring some controversy after numerous people purportedly under the age of 18 began posting versions of the trend thirst trapping with captions like, "'I can't date a 2013' #yesyoucan," meaning someone (a minor) born in 2013. These videos inspired memes on the app where people parody the posts.

Controversy / I Can't FW A 2013

Purportedly, in late May 2025, some under-18-year-old TikTokers began posting versions of the trend, implying that you can date someone under the age of 18, also inspiring parodies of the posts. Many of these posts have seemingly been buried or deleted, their presence has been overstated, or it's now hard to differentiate them from the parodies.

On May 28th, 2025, TikToker[5] @emilyloveday posted a version of the trend under the caption, "I can't you're too young," garnering over 4 million views in two weeks.

On the same day, TikToker[6] @carmlan1234 posted a video captioned, "2007 and 2013 #yesucan!!!" garnering over 1.2 million views in two weeks. While many commenters seem to believe the TikToker is being genuine, others wonder if it's rage bait.
