What's Up With The 'I Got A Brand New Saxophone' Song On TikTok? Memes Set To The Sax Solo From Trocky's 'Troy Bolton' Explained

TikTok loves finding a funny sound effect and running it to the ground, and it helps when it's attached to an already catchy sound.
If you're active on JuggTok, you may have come across the latest iteration of this trend: I Got a Brand New Saxophone.

Inspired by similar memes that came before it, like 1:14 That Piano 🔥, videos set to an out-of-place saxophone trill in the middle of a rap song have been making the rounds on TikTok for weeks now. Here's the low down on how the meme came about.
Where Did "I Got a Brand New Saxophone" Come From?
The phrase comes from a half-serious rap song called "troy bolton" by rapper Tockyy, uploaded to YouTube on March 18th, 2025.
Around the 1-minute mark, he declares, "I just jugged a band director. I got a brand new saxophone," followed by a completely serious and quite jazzy saxophone solo.
"Jugged," in this context, means stealing or finessing, so Tocky was just bragging about committing band-related larceny.
Tockyy's soundbite first blew up on TikTok in a meme featuring comedian Druski looking a little too jolly in behind bars. The caption joked about how some guys post videos from prison acting like it's summer camp, and the clip gained over 54,000 likes in just over two weeks.

How Did the 'I Got a Brand New Saxophone' Meme Spread?
The soundbite blew up around the same time memes about Ashton Hall's Morning Routine did in late March 2025, with TikToker @leelsnitchin posting a video of Hall jogging into a full-speed sprint, captioned with the text, "guys who start moving on the last rep after jogging all practice," and using the saxophone sound. The post snagged over 266,000 likes since then.

Tockyy himself even joined the fun, posting clips of Ashton Hall's humorous morning routine, sharing a clip of Hall saying, "I was really in the air for four minutes," captioning it, "Unc has officially lost it." Tockyy’s video hit 2 million likes in 10 days.

Others chimed in with dancing videos and remixes, like TikToker @whereissgabe's saying, "We ALL bumping TS all summer," and TikToker @abbythmas' reenactment that racked up over 850,000 likes in just three days.

What’s the "1:14 That Piano 🔥" Meme?
But before there was "That Saxophone," there was 1:14 That Piano 🔥.
This meme came from a 2021 YouTube comment on a Gucci Mane and Pooh Shiesty instrumental. A viewer declared, "1:14 that piano 🔥," pinpointing the exact moment he thought the keys hit different, which turned out to be a very short arpeggio that went up and back down again.

The comment soon became a meme template: timestamp + instrument + 🔥 emojis = certified banger. Over time, people started parodying it with ridiculous or out-of-place sounds in rap beats, like banjos, harpsichords and, yes, saxophones.
So when Tockyy dropped that wild sax solo, the internet already had the perfect meme format locked and loaded.
