Mike Lindell, the My Pillow guy, explained.

Who Is Mike Lindell, And Why Was He In Disguise At The DNC? The 'My Pillow' Guy's Lore Explained

There seems to be a strange uptick in conservatives dressing up in disguise to visit the Democratic National Convention, from Matt Walsh's shoddy wig and hat get up to Mike Lindell shaving off his mustache to apparently wind up arguing with children.

You might have seen clips of a man dressed up in a green suit jacket bending over to lecture a short Black elementary school kid who seems puzzled by the lack of facts in his debate points.

For those who don't know who Mike Lindell is, here's a refresher on the "My Pillow Guy" and how he almost lost his business thanks to his incessant need to defend both Donald Trump and the January 6th Storming of the Capitol.

Who Is Mike Lindell, AKA The 'My Pillow' Guy?

Mike Lindell is an American entrepreneur best known for founding My Pillow, Inc. He got his start in business after dropping out of the University of Minnesota and starting a string of small businesses in the state. After dealing with a slew of substance issues and facing divorce from his wife, Lindell eventually started My Pillow in 2004.

Back in the 2010s, Lindell pushed his pillow products as some sort of end-all-be-all cure to everything from snoring to fibromyalgia to simple migraines, eventually becoming a multimillionaire from his pillow fortune.

In 2016, however, My Pillow was sued for false advertising, netting them a loss of $1 million in settlements. The following year, the BBB revoked its accreditation of the company and lowered its rating to an F based on complaints from consumers.

What Is Mike Lindell's Connection To Trump and The Republican Party?

In 2016, Mike Lindell met Donald Trump and became an avid supporter. He began to attend and even speak at several events and fundraisers for Trump's benefit, calling him the "greatest President in history" at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference.

Lindell has since been involved in a number of right-wing controversies, from peddling an unproven cure for COVID-19 and donating over $50,000 to Kyle Rittenhouse's bail fund to claiming that there was election fraud involved in the 2020 Presidential Election that ousted Trump from office.

Mike Lindell was a significant player in supporting and helping to finance the former President’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election due to alleged voter fraud. Lindell made several appearances and comments on social media calling for the imprisonment of some Georgia voters and for Trump to impose martial law in various states.

On January 6th, 2021, Lindell sponsored various events that challenged the election results and encouraged attendance to the Save America rally where he spoke shortly before the January 6th Insurrection.

After the riots, Lindell continued to perpetuate conspiracy theories that Antifa was responsible for the attack, in addition to foreign powers allegedly rigging voting machines to steal the election.

Why Was Mike Lindell In Disguise At The DNC?

The exact reason as to why Lindell chose to shave off his facial hair and go to the DNC "in disguise" is unclear, but the reaction to his presence has quickly garnered virality online.

During his attendance at the event, Lindell was accosted by a number of young Democrats who immediately grilled him about all of his false claims surrounding the supposedly "stolen" 2020 election, including 12-year-old Knowa, a Harris supporter.

Lindell later encountered another young Democrat, Harry Sisson, who was unable to get a straight answer out of Lindell as to why he continued to support Donald Trump.
