I've got no questions, I believe I've got everything down.

The planet sprites and system grids are nothing less than very impressive by the way. Proper ace stuff, I truly appreciate the effort you're putting into this.

Let the game begin!

I'm including important racial biology stuff that I didn't detail enough before in my first turn. Should I post the clarified info so other players can see it?

Go head buddy c:

In the first act of public diplomacy so far in the game, I hereby invite the Explodonatians to colonize the planet Ronaldo in the Barnard system. It is uninhabitable to us, but we would love to have Explodonatians as friends and allies.

One thing I was unable to do in the Nations RP was have diplomacy, since I started too late. Well I have some resource rich planets, I plan on having some trade agreements in the future, if anyone is interested.

well i'm interested in this "Diplomacy"

I haven't colonized the planets yet, but consider things like metal ore and gas energy.

Sir Crona Crescent Duke of Landwales wrote:

You guys think you're hot shit cuz you have resources? I have SPACE WIZARDS. Sort of.

Still, Sort Of Space Wizards > Material resources.

None of my planets even have resources. My homeworld seems the only applicable resource heavy planet there.

Unless you want to mine my moon for moon dust, then go ahead.

I'm gonna have a hard time with Surtr and Muspelheim since my aliens are build for the cold, not heat. The others will take some serious terraforming but hey I didn't make my system to be easy. Plus I really wanted the fire and ice theme for my system for some unknowable reason.

Don't take this as an act of hostility, but…
I will not enter any foreign systems without permission from the ruler or without a good reason. So therefor, I expect no less from my contemporaries and will shoot down any and all fleets that come into my territory without permission. Loss of a fleet is enough, so I won't start wars over one incursion, but if you send a fleet unannounced to my turf be prepared to loose it.

They have found that their fleshy bits are cooked easily except for individuals who had upgraded their coolant systems. Such people tend to either work in forges and power plants or have extreme solar flare paranoia.

Saurias – Cale
Tech: FTL, Nanomanufacturing
Sün
-Nanobot technology is applied to manufacturing, enabling precise and minute details with organic and maleable construction elements.
-Two fleets are constructed in orbit around Kree.
-A colony is built on Ceesk. The cold temperatures and lack of abundant rare resources stunts growth.
-The Silicon lifeforms on Caliir are investigated. They are found to be highly intelligent, and a vast cave network of cities is discovered beneath the surface of the planet. They are a sluggish and slow moving people, suggesting that these cave cities took millenia to build.
-An unmanned FTL probe appears and starts orbitting around the Sün. An investigation discovers that it may be of Kadreshan origin.
-Merchant ships from Richt arrive to trade goods.

Twintanirig – Honeytiger
Tech: FTL, Planetary EM Field
Teitia
-Bybi is settled. The planet is a remarkably friendly and pleasant place to live, and is compared to heaven. Settlers rush to join new cities, and the planet is quickly occupied in full.
-A new spacefleet is built in Tympton orbit.
-Large electromagnetic shield generators are invented, which simulate the dynamo of a planet's molten core and can be used to amplify a planet's natural energy shielding.
-Va is colonized. The colony suffers growth issues from the harsh cold, but is otherwise sueccessful.

Droresa – RocketPropelledPanda
Tech: FTL, Genetic Engineering
Eldan
-Biological modification technology is developed, allowing Droresans to modify their own biology and easily change the way their bodies look and function.
-The Droresan's undergo a revolution led by a genetics pioneer in which their bodies are merged together to form what is known as The Conglomerate. Eventually this massive physical and political entity comes to engulf all life on the planet and roots itself into the soil, merging itself with the planet.
-The terrain of the living planet is altered as strong carapace armor is built through biological modifications.

Requiem – Mr.Stalker
Tech: FTL, Supreme Vodka
The Vlad
-Intense staring at Vodka occurs. After decades of this, one Ruskie has the smart idea of improving the recipe. Supreme Vodka has been invented. Who knows what wonderous opportunities this technology has unlocked for its people?
-Vast task forces of workers, essentially slaves, are sent to work the mines of Vietnam. Their sorrows are drowned in Supreme Vodka.

The Chimera – Laika
Tech: FTL, Atmospheric Terraforming
Hydra
-Terraforming starts with the construction of a breathable atmosphere, and to that end there have been huge strides in technology for the Chimera.
-The moons of Chicxulub are being ground to pieces to build space fleets.
-Mining colonies are built on Metgos to suplement the construction of more space ships.
-An orbital platform is built for Chicxulub for defense.
-Huge mechanical death machines are being built on Chicxulub as the planet begins to prepare for war.

Ashitaka Empire – Fridge Logic
Tech: FTL, Atmospheric Terraforming
Taiyo
-A fleet is constructed in orbit of Sogen.
-Technology in the transformation of atmospheres is developed, allowing the alteration of a planet to become more habitable.
-Colonies are established on Yuasa and Eboshi. Both are hard pressed for any kind of success due to the hostile nature of each planet.
-A low orbit station is built near Miyazaki for the mining of Hydrogen and Helium, providing a very simple means of obtaining both elements.

Arcadia – CrowTheMagician
Tech: FTL, Cloaking
Titania
-Cloaking technology is developed, allowing full invisibility of objects at any size.
-A space fleet is constructed near Camarillia.
-Explorers spread out through the star system, greedily absorbing information regarding the nature of all the planets they can reach.
-An exploration ship becomes stranded in orbit around Anarch, having struck a stray rock from Anarch's rings. The ship, being unsalvagable, is designated as a forward outpost and space station.
-Malkav excites Arcadians, who hold diamonds high in value. Mining towns are established there, although the sheer weight of diamonds make mass export difficult, keeping prices up.
-The Wraiths of Niflheim are encountered as an explorer crashes on the planet's surface. They are currently not hostile.
-Iconnu is also settled, and the land is found to be fertile due to volcanic activity. Oxygen farms are built within dome structures and geothermal generators keep the population warm.

Cattonia – Madcat
Tech: FTL, Plasma Weapons
Jubatus
-Plasma weapons have been developed for ships and personal use.
-A fleet of space ships is constructed.
-Concolor is settled, and the friendly environment allows for quick occupation of the entire planet. The squidles and humans happily allow Cattonian migrants to integrate with the planet's society.
-An outpost is established on Tigris with the purpose of begining a terraforming mission, but as of yet technology has not developed to a point where such a hostile environment can be tamed.
-Scouting parties assess that Pardalis is sparsely populated by the humans of a lost United Earth colony led by a democratic government, although they intend to follow orders from United Earth if they ever make contact. The colony appears to have modern weaponry and a capable armed force.

Axius – unusedusername
Tech: FTL, Genetic Engineering
Theren
-Genetic techolony is explored, allowing the Alrax to modify the biology of organisms.
-The United Governments of Axius (UGA) passes a law establishing themselves as the representatives of Axius.

-The UGA elects the Oran as the planet's current Spirit Animal.

Cupitor – TripleA9000
Tech: FTL

Explodonatia – Snickerway
Tech: FTL

Tesser – Serious Business
Tech: FTL, Swarm Ships
Barnard
-Tiny single-pilot fighter ships are developed by Tesser's best engineers. These ships are small and lack firepower but have superior speed and maneuverability.
-Police ships are sent out to hide in all corners of the system to monitor traffic and deter future incursions. Stations are established on Dewford and the external asteroid belt to aid this cause.
-A very successful mining colony is built on Louis. Their only complication is the importation of air.

Roma – Tchefuncte Bonaparte
Tech: FTL, Energy Shielding
Apollo
-Rome's First Star Legion is trained and outfitted with a fleet of ships.
-Energy based shielding is developed for spaceships and personal use.
-Roma is fully occupied, its population expanding to tame the entire planet.
-Gallia is invaded by land forces, which have successfully established a landing zone and occupied some territory. A French spacefleet in mid construction is commandeered by the new Star Legion of Roma.

Redmagus – Sir Crona Statscowski
Tech: FTL, Psychic Energy
Enix
-Psychic energy devices are invented, allowing Redmagians to create storage for and utilize Psi, a naturally occuring form of electromagnetic energy created by their brains. Unfortunately this has the adverse side effect of diminishing intellect in the user for a period of time or even permanently, if the device is used abusively.
-A fleet is constructed in orbit of Terra. Space stations are built to facilitate this and other space-borne travel.
-Education reforms are made on the homeworld, improving efficiency and effectiveness of teachers tenfold.
-Mining outposts are built upon Garland. The lack of an atmosphere makes the operation difficult.
-Tidus' infrastructure is expanded, and hydroelectic power generation is begining to provide such a surplus that the energy is being exported to other planets.

Kadresha – A Furry
Tech: FTL, Mining Lasers
Kellar
-A new fleet is constructed. And then a second one.
-Mining laser technology is developed, allowing powerful lasers to work in concert with scanners in such a way that they can rip apart huge chunks of rock with minimal energy input.
-The Iphone 5S is released.
-An orbital defense ring is deemed infeasible at current technology and infrastructure levels. The project is abandoned before it can begin.

The Imperium Collectives – GaryTheStoßtruppen
Tech: FTL, Lightsabers
Nihilus
-Demetre is rapidly colonized as the crowded population of Hades seeks new places to live. The breathable atmosphere, small distance, and tolerable land quality aids in the settler rush significantly.
-A military spacefleet is constructed. A draft is made to fill it with conscripts, but for the most part there are more than enough volunteers seeking jobs and a life among the stars.
-Extremely powerful range-contained lasers are developed, making laser swords or 'Lightsabers' a technological reality. Their power to cut through materials is greater than a regular laser of similar power due to the special way in which their energy is concentrated.

Grand Zelmizzen – Richter von Zelmisburg
Tech: FTL, Kinetic Weaponry
Richt
-Extremely powerful magnetic coil guns make kinetic weaponry even more devestating than before. Spaceships outfitted with this kind of gun can wreak havok on any structure at a huge range.
-A new fleet is constructed.
-A space elevator is constructed on Moklazia.
-Right wing parties ranging from neo-conservatives to fascists form a coalition and take control of the government.

I'm planning an "orbital defense" too, expect it's not a ring, more of a moon shaped structure. Perhaps I've said too much.

It's a Death Star isn't it.

Just for the record, is United Earth the one from Star Trek?

I had no idea that the term "United Earth" was used in Star Trek. In this game's universe, the United Nations has been granted full control over Earth's representation and activities in space, calling itself United Earth when dealing with extraterrestrials and colonies.

That's basically what happened in Star Trek.

Liking this first turn, lots of activity and varied tech and moves.

I have one simply suggestion though, is it possible that you can place the system image link within the users move summary, sorta like this?

it would make watching other players movements real easy

That's a good idea Laika.

Now looking at United Earth raises up a question. For research and technology, all you have to say is "Tech: Atmospheric Terraforming"? And then you have it, without any simpler prior research? Sounds a little overpowered, since you can invent anything. If this is so, I have a few suggestions.

Method 1 – You could make what you consider larger projects to take more than one turn.
Method 2 – You need simpler technology to base off of. For instance if you wanted Tech: Giant Space Gun, you should first make Tech: Giant Space Bullets. Because having a Giant Space Gun that easily brings up problems.
Which leads to Method 3 – Leave it as it is, so everyone can abuse the system and conjure up Mega Space Gods of the Universes to bring utter destruction to the worlds.

Unless someone comes up with sanctions against giant space weapons that can obliterate planets. Y'know, with how the U.N. has sanctions against using biological weaponry and using orbital death lasers.

But who doesn't love orbital death lasers? Haha

Orders Death Star to target Kadresha

I swear to god if you do that I will flip out-

Wait, isn't there a really obvious exhaust port in the Death Star I can just put a torpedo through.

Bwahaha, you'll never get past my two guard towers!

Speaking of superweapons if you teak the terraforming tech just enough you can turn them into weapons of mass destruction. Though that would be a horrible misuse of that tech but it is an idea to consider if you need a fast way to make a superweapon.

It's fine the way it is. Syndic said he'd scale back any attempts at ridiculous tech to what he deems reasonable. Plus, we all have access to the same stuff.

im gonna have about 100 of these built across the planet

any ship that tries to enter my planets atmosphere is going to be in for a rude awakening
its gonna be badass

Well considering we all have tech that can bend Einstein's Theory of relativity about light I'm pretty sure Atmospheric Terraforming will be somewhat easy to make.

Method 1: That one could be problematic as one person can be stuck researching one form of tech for five or more turn while everyone else speeds on through with new tech faster then him/her.

Methods 2: I think making the gun first would be more fitting since that way the existence of giant space bullets will make more sense since the giant space gun came first.

Methods 3: No one hasn't summoned either The Great Old Ones or The Outer Gods yet so I say we're doing a good job so far.

Plus things are going alright as is so I wouldn't worry about changing the rules now, especially now since the game has just only begun.

@Laika: I considered doing that, but in the end it would add a lot of work that I want to avoid. I would have to replace every image link every turn, and it is easier to do all of that in just one single area. Also, it would make the number of characters much longer meaning I would have to possibly split the post into more than two pieces. As players begin to control more planets in different systems the number of star systems linked in their post would grow, increasing the character count even further and possibly even making it so that half of the star systems are linked in every player's section. This is something I want to avoid.

@Gary: The only real limit to your technology at this point is the infrastructure you have to support it. You could invent a death star, albeit with a few prerequisite techs, but the materials required to build it and the energy to power it are both beyond your civilization at this moment in time. You would do better by creating that kind of infrastructure before taking on the colossal project of planetary demolition. Also, what madcat said.

United Earth – NPC
Tech: FTL, Atmospheric Terraforming, Dyson Swarm
Sol
-The Dyson swarm, a huge cloud of satellites orbiting a star to harvest energy, is being adopted as a project by Earth. Technology to this end has been developed, allowing construction to begin on a Dyson swarm around Sol.
-A colony has been established upon Venus, and atmospheric terraforming has begun. A rich oxygen atmosphere has been created.
-A station is built in orbit of Jupiter to mine Hydrogen and Helium.

Akash – Taryn
Tech: FTL, Ship Pincers
Dipta

The Knights Cyber – Spider-Byte
Tech: FTL, Laser Weapons
Bine

Saurias – Cale
Tech: FTL, Nanomanufacturing, Climate Control
Sün
-Climate control devices are developed, allowing for manipulation of global temperatures. Unfortunately, this technology requires an amount of power that Saurias is not yet capable of generating.
-Orbital gas mining stations are established on Caleekra.
-Diplomatic relations are established with the Silicates. They are friendly, but have no trade opportunities with Saurias due to the huge difference in goods value between species.
-Trade ships are commissioned and set out for Richt.
Nihilus
-Aqua Magna is settled. The new colony finds that the planet is remarkably pleasant, and all the colonists invite their families to live with them.

Twintanirig – Honeytiger
Tech: FTL, Planetary EM Field, Climate Control
Teitia
-Global temperature regulation is now possible, but requires power generation beyond Twintanirig capabilities.
-Tympton strains the global economy for every spare drop of fuel and scrap of metal to launch three new space fleets.
-The desolate and lifeless block of ice known as Pae is settled upon.

Droresa – RocketPropelledPanda
Tech: FTL, Genetic Engineering, Spontaneous Organics
Eldan
-All attempts to move the planet are futile. Fogtira does not have the power or the thrust to propel itself out of its orbit, and the amount of mass ejection required to change orbits would literally rip the planet apart into an asteroid field.
-The Droresan overmind reaches its roots deep under the crust of Fogtira, fully incorporating itself into the planet and the planet into itself.
-Through the use of its huge metabolism and masterful control over its own genetics, Droresa is now able to rapidly convert huge amounts of organic matter from one state to another. Fogtira is essentially a giant lump of stem cells now.

Requiem – Mr.Stalker
Tech: FTL, Supreme Vodka, Leviathan
The Vlad
-Kin is settled. The planet is very easy to settle into, and quickly fills up with colonists. Some colonists are so excited by their success that they take initiative and set up a base camp on Hammer.
-A human is appointed to rule the Ruskies.
-A new ship is designed around the principles of firepower and sheer size. This giant vessel is of the Leviathan class. As of yet, the Ruskies lack a fleet with which to utilize such a ship.
-Vietnam is invaded by a hostile alien force known as the Chimera! Alien drop-ships descend all over the planet, and swarms of soldiers appearing to be of hundreds of different races pour out over the landscape. The fighting is bloody and global. Although it came at a great cost, the Chimeran assault is halted and only minimal territory losses are had.

The Chimera – Laika
Tech: FTL, Atmospheric Terraforming
Hydra
-Mines are deployed about the system, although the vastness of space and the speed of interstellar craft means that they are unlikely to have any kind of notable defensive effect.
-Terraforming occurs on Metgos; the atmosphere is saturated with Oxygen, making the planet more suitable for Chimeran life and speeding up the rate of settlement. Unfortunately, the lack of water means that the surface remains completely barren.
-Theyar and Vectra are assaulted with Chimera strains. The lands are ravaged for resources, with deep mines being established in the most prospective locations and forests being torn down. The rapid pace of industry is choking the skies with smoke and dust, causing temperatures to plummet.
The Vlad
-A fleet is sent off to the planet Vietnam where a land invasion is made. Despite initial successes due to the shock of their offensive the extreme heat and hostile terrain of the planet, as well as the brute strength of the Ruskies, proved too much for the Chimerans, forcing their retreat to small enclaves on the surface.
-Assimilation of Ruskies is successful; whoever was successfully captured and dragged away during the invasion is now a Chimeran strain.

Ashitaka Empire – Fridge Logic
Tech: FTL, Atmospheric Terraforming, Genetic Engineering
Taiyo
-Genetic engineering technology is developed, allowing the Taiyo do create custom alterations to genetic code.
-Jin and Mugen are beset upon by mining communities. Despite being nearly identical in size and resource composition, the Mugen base has seen significantly more success, probably due to luck or superior advertising.
-Otomo is cleaned of radiation, and the atmosphere is purified.
-An observatory is established on Oshii, constructed primarily out of diamonds. The search for uninhabited systems, unfortunately, has found nothing; there do not appear to be any star systems within a reasonable distance outside of this star group.
-Indigenous life on Eboshi is studied intently. Genetic modifications are applied to the hostile fauna to make it more docile and oxygen breathing, and soon the planet's ecosystem is ravaged by the new species.

Arcadia – CrowTheMagician
Tech: FTL, Cloaking, Atmospheric Terraforming
Titania
-Atmospheric terraforming technology is developed, giving Arcadia the ability to transform a planet's atmosphere fairly easily.
-Diplomatic relations are established with the Wraiths of Nifleheim. They share neutral ambitions with the Arcadians, and seem to tolerate their settlement on the planet.
-Complex cave systems are dug out on Inconnu. These tube tunnels link various inhabited locations together and speed the development of the planet, although they are plagued by cave-ins caused by tectonic activities and magma flows.
-After many probes are lost to the intense wind storms of Anarch, it is decided that physical occupation of the planet is impossible, and any development of the planet will have to be done in orbit.
-Explorers land on Niflheim's twin moons of Hrimthursar and Niflungar, completing the settlement of the system's outtermost planets. The smog of Niflungar is investigated and found to be caused by dust in the air, presumably kicked up by wind storms. Hrimthursar's expansive mountain ranges awe the Arcadians, who find life on the tundra familiar and home-like.

Cattonia – Madcat
Tech: FTL, Plasma Weapons, Energy Shielding
Jubatus
-Energy based shielding technology is developed, allowing electrical power to be substituted for hull strength in ships.
-Energy conduits are constructed at equal spacing about the planet Leo to support a planetary shield. This shield consumes immense amounts of power, and thus cannot be kept active in all places and at all times.
-Prospectors report: besides the fact that most of the surface metals are in a liquid state, there seems to be nothing special about Tigris.

Axius – unusedusername
Tech: FTL, Genetic Engineering, Time Displacement
Theren
-Time travel technology is pioneered, allowing for very short escapades into the not-so-distant past. At most, this allows scientists to displace themselves only a few seconds in time. This technology has practical applications in defensive technology, allowing rapid repairs on recently damaged structures.
-Astronomy is forcefully added to every curriculum, increasing the popularity of space exploration.
-A new fleet of drone ships is commissioned. Surely, this will save on manpower and keep lives from being lost in warfare.
-An almanac is organized by the government for farmers.
-Despite the fact that a war is not being fought, the homeworld is placed into a state of economic pragmatism wherein citizens are encouraged to donate every scrap of material they can spare for the… war… effort? Huge scrap heaps, primarily made of metals, are accumulated for unknown purposes.

Cupitor – TripleA9000
Tech: FTL, Laser Weapons
Gigas
-Laser beams are developed for military purposes.
-Colonial expeditions are sent to Caeruleus and Prasinus I. They are wildly successful, and settlers from the homeworld flock to the new planets.
-A new fleet is built.
-The surface of Canus has already been mapped.

Explodonatia – Snickerway
Tech: FTL

Tesser – Serious Business
Tech: FTL, Swarm Ships
Barnard

Roma – Tchefuncte Bonaparte
Tech: FTL, Energy Shielding, Guns That Shoot Smaller Laser Guns
Apollo
-GTSSLG technology is pioneered by the Romans and applied to ship designs and personal arms.
-New legionares are trained in the ways of INTENSE DISCIPLINE.
-The mountains of Gallia are bombarded from orbit, presumably as a preliminary measure to prevent the French from hiding there once they feel the need to retreat from the front lines.
-The war on Gallia continues with success. The planet is now nearly half occupied.
-Submarine research stations are established on Mare Infinitus, floating on and under the waves of the planet's surface.

Redmagus – Sir Crona Statscowski
Tech: FTL, Psychic Energy
Enix

Kadresha – A Furry
Tech: FTL, Mining Lasers, Ion Cannons
Kellar
-Ion weapon development has seen the creation of powerful main guns for large space faring vessels.
-Patrols around Destiny are heightened. New ships are produced in huge quantities including carriers, bombers, and fighter groups. A supermassive carrier sits at the heart of the fleet, being described by journalists as "big and scary."
-A mining station is established on Selvas to test the new lasers. They are found to work beautifully at carving through rock, making the station profitable despite being situated upon irradiated soil.

The Imperium Collectives – GaryTheStoßtruppen
Tech: FTL, Lightsabers, Twin Ion Engines
Nihilus
-Twin Ion Engines are developed, allowing Imperium ships to outrun and outmaneuver ships with inferior engines.
-TIE fighters and Star Destroyers are constructed, outfitted with the snazziest and fanciest of all ion engines. They are thrown together intoa new fleet at Hades.
-A moonbase is made upon Kharon.
-Colonists are sent to Hoth. The cold weather and comparatively high gravity is an initial setback, but soon the colonists are expanding rapidly into new settlements across the surface of the planet.

Grand Zelmizzen – Richter von Zelmisburg
Tech: FTL, Kinetic Weaponry, Cybernetic Organics
Richt
-Cybernetic organics, dubbed "automail technology," is developed. This allows the grafting of mechanical and computer systems into living organisms and the integration of such systems into the nervous systems of said organisms. Essentially, cyborgs.
-Colonists arrive on Zelmisburg. Oxygen farmers establish their crops easily and the colony grows rapidly as a result.
-Larger and more powerful ships are constructed with larger and more powerful guns.
-Observatories are ordered to keep a watch out for objects moving faster than they can see them.
-A penal colony is established upon Merzerenia I.
