Mate are you using an everstone? Doesn't even have to be a specific gender or chance anymore. As long as one parent holds an everstone, that parent passes down their nature. Egg groups are a wonderful thing.

The other parent can then hold Destiny Knot. All this still takes time of course, but natures are pretty easy to do these day.

Problem with that is I actually need the nature I want before I can use the everstone
I specifically have to breed those two pokemon for an egg move as well.
As soon as I get the nature I need I can just swap in my foreign ditto for Matsuda and slap an everstone on the new parent.

Do what I do, find your nearest Ditto hideout and catch one for all useful Natures, hand each one an everstone, and boom, that part of breeding is trivialized.

This is more of a pain in ORAS than it is X and Y, seeing as Ditto only turns up on specific mirage spots which I usually rotate out only once in a while.
Doesn't for now anyway, after literally 88 eevees I got the one with the calm nature I need
On that note if anyone wants an eevee of basically any nature hit me up and I'll leave my FC
I'd likely just delete most of them anyway.

So I love the starters! Awesome concepts. The box legends look BAMF too.

Observations:
- Free roaming (non grid-based world map)
- Defo Hawaii region
- Some clear Hoenn-esque influences, right down to the new version of the title screen song
- Trainer Customisation looks to be in (boy MC has blue striped shirt in some scenes, black shirt in others)

The new starters look great (especially Rowlett, since it is an adorable owl) and the box art legendaries are also great (The bat monster looks amazing though).

The new changes to the game also look great.

I like how colorful this game looks. So yeah, I might check it out. I might buy Moon

Yo so Europe's getting it a few days later on Nov 23rd. I'm not mad. Much. Just gotta watch my internets a bit less for a few days.

Also the Alola region from above, looks to be structured basically as a kind of "Hoenn 2" to me (main island + smaller islands), but that's a good thing. I really like the aesthetic of it all.

Glad to see we're getting some actual information regarding Sun/Moon.

So which of the new starters do you guys plan on choosing? I'm definitely going to pick Popplio for my starter. And as for which version I plan on getting, I'll probably get Moon, since that giant lunar bat legendary looks pretty cool.

Loving the hell out of the look of the overworld! And I'm really glad it ended up looking more ike Hawaii, and they didn't shoehorn in another japanese themed region. About damn time we weren't locked to the overhead view with chibi character models. Only starter that's really rubbing off on me is the fire cat, the other two are fine, but ehh~ I like the design of the moon legendary, but ima still get PRAISE THE SUN version.

Will say tho, the region seems a tad small, hope there's more/a lot to it.

Definatly Rowlet, you've seen the bowtie right

I don't know if my 3DS will even be able to play the game. It looks fantastic so far. They did went a bit far with the legendaries designs but I still like them. Probably going to choose Rowlet.
With that we're getting Gen 7 boys!

I kinda agree with the legendaries, though it's nice to see they're continuing on from gen 6 and not throwing another load of dragons at us.

Holy testicles, I did not expect it to look like this. I mean true that each generation did look different from each other, but I didn't think they were capable of making it look like this. This is going to be one hell of a game to travel through.

Now for the starters, looks like the fire type won me over again, though it hasn't beat out Fennekin as my favorite starter. This is also the first time in a while where I didn't actually mind the water type starter, the grass type just doesn't do it for me surprisingly.

I'm not sure which version to get yet, since it's not the box legendaries that determine if for me (though so far I prefer Sun's), it would mainly depend on which other Pokémon will be found in the wild for me. For instance, I went with White Version, even though I preferred Reshiram, because it had the Solosis line found in the wild, and Reuniclus was one of the Pokémon I wanted. So my decision on that is still up in the air.

Glad to see trainer customization is back. The girl trainer looks cute. I haven't decided if I'm going to get Sun or Moon. It will probably be like I did with X and Y, I will go with the version no one in my circle of friends chooses. Rowlet and Popplio are my favorites and I haven't decided on which of the two I'm choosing. It is interesting to see that Rowlet is our first dual-type starter since Bulbasaur.

I also pick versions based on wild pkmn vs. legendaries, but I like Moon's bat frisbee. Hoping for some good new pkmn to enhance my rain team from this water region. I'll probs start with Popplio, but if its third stage looks too much like a clown I'll take the owl instead.

Yeah so the MoonBat's design is very interesting. I'll just copy what I posted on the Reddit b/c I think it's got a cool mix of design bases:

First off, it's a bat. Yup. Which is a night-time creature.

Secondly, I've seen a couple of suggestions that it is also a "Dreamcatcher". These handmade-charm things are often circular in appearance and are meant to ward off bad dreams by catching them, and acting as a kind of good dream filter. There's that night-time connection again. This makes the creature seem somewhat benevolent, but my next point works against this idea.

Finally, in Mayan mythology, there was a god who was a death bat. Camazotz was a bat deity associated with "night, death & sacrifice" according to WIkipedia. Those are some highly negative connotations, so we could see something along the lines of Yveltal lore-wise here.

Some people have suggested Fairy as a possible typing, and I think that's a good guess based on the moon implications (most moon-themed moves are Fairy-type) but we could also be looking at a Dark-type based on the night and if the "death bat" basis holds up.

Might be Fairy/Psychic, thus far everything meaningfully moon related's been psychic.

WHOO-HOO Hawaii based region! I got the home field advantage.

Now that aside once again I have to admit my first instinct was to go for rowlet cause it's cute as a button, but also given if this new region is based on Hawaii it's likely gonna be an island and is gonna likely have a ton of water type pokemon so a grass starter would probably be very useful.

Man I'm super hyped for this gen if not simply for it being based on Hawaii cause that in it of itself is AWESOME, and it gives me similar vibes to gen 3 which was my favorite as a kid.

A grass/flying pokemon right at the start of the game seems like a big advantage. It looks like that starter will have a lot of coverage barring steel types and some electric dual types.

Game looks super cool, it looks way prettier than XY (I didn't notice it at first but after it was pointed out to me I can't go back), new starters look cool and I'm just loving the region, the Hawaii theming is amazing and I think it's going to bring some fantastic stuff to the series. Honestly, if there's anything I'm down on it's the new legendaries, they look a tad over designed for my tastes. So far I think I'm going to go Moon because the Bat one at the very least is a unique concept for a legendary, and either Litten or Rowlet for the starter.

Lol same here. >tfw everyone needs the other version mon and you have the other version mon.

Then again when you know folks on the web you probably got yourself covered.

I buid a sun team back in X/Y which held up throughout AR/OS, so please don't fight me until I somehow got a sandstorm team lol.

Game looks amazing, loving the region, but starters for me are just meh-ish. Odds are I'll just go default and pick the fire one.

Hyped to play as Chrom.

well … looks like im going to end up only using the fire and water type starters again i just really dont like Rowlett's design too much yet.
also because of the fact that one of the new legendarys is a bat with a connection to dreams (or possibly nightmares) i get this odd feeling that i will end up nicknaming it "Antasma" on account of the similarities between the pokemon and that character.
_________________________
on another note i wanted to set up a competitive team without using any really overused pokemon (im basically just planning to use my favorite pokemon) and i need suggestions for movesets, better natures, items, and better abilities

Suicune – nature: hardy
Luxray – nature: naive
Blissey – nature: calm (special defense boost on Blissey because why not)
Metagross (mega) – nature: brave (attack boost on mega Metagross because why not)
Sylveon – nature: calm (hidden ability btw)
Aerodactyl – nature: adamant (ability is Rock Head so Double-Edge is really effective)

{ so please don’t fight me until I somehow got a sandstorm team lol. }

I can't battle anyone again until I get a pink sheep with the right stats

but what exactly are you planning to do against me with the shittiest weather tho.

That is only marginally true, but ok: what exactly are you planning to do against my rain team with a bunch of ground and rock pkmn* then.

Talking about my pink sheep reminded me: I'll trade someone a male 5IV JPN Absol (missing SpA) for a male 5IV not-ENG pkmn missing Atk in the Field egg group.

US residents… sign ups for a chance at being a PKMN Go tester opened today.

They want gmail accounts only so I wonder if they want our app store data (idk how it is for iphones but you use your Google Play account for everything on Android) or if that will make any difference? It says:

{ Field testers will be selected based on a variety of factors which may include OS-types, experience in real world games and an element of luck. Selected participants will receive an email with detailed instructions and requirements. }

What's everyone's thoughts on the starters' potential typings?

We kinda know Rowlet's probably gonna keep the Grass/Flying, unless they pull a Drapion and radically change it at the end somehow.

Litten's predictions seem to lean mostly on Fire/Dark, but I like the idea of Fire/Poison which was brought up a few times. Could go another direction depending on the second evo.

As for Popplio, I really hope it's not yet another Water/Ice seal thing. We already have 5 of 'em! Water/Fairy seems to be the go-to, but we already have a few of those.
%{font-size:1pt}and I swear to fucking christ if it gets Water/Fairy before Milotic I'm gonna legit kill someone%

Edit: textile pls?

I don't want Milotic to be water/fairy. I think it makes more flavour sense, and a better defensive typing (water/fairy is still pretty good though) for it to either become water/dragon, or stay pure water. Fairy is "magical" in nature, not merely "ooh look pretty" Milotic is serpentine and in the dragon egg group, as well as learning a few dragon moves over one fairy move. Dragon makes more sense.

From gameplay, Milotic is pretty bulky, but adding fairy will increase its weaknesses slightly. It goes from two to three, and loses its resistance to steel. Water/dragon doesn't increase the weaknesses, just changes them (grass & electric > dragon & fairy), so could be good for defensive shenanigans.

If Popplio is going to be defensive plz can it remain pure water as well. These days people are keen to stick other types onto things, but there's nothing wrong with pure typings when they work from a flavour perspective or help the mon be more efficient.

In regards to recent information found in the Pokémon website Popplio may end up as Water/Fighting, Litten may stay as pure Fire type and Rowlet may switch from Flying to Ground.

My hopes is that Litten becomes either Fire/Dark or Fire/Ghost, especially the Dark typing since Fire will help the Dark typing weakness to both Fairies and Bug types.
For the text just add "*" to both ends.
hope it helps

@Eglamore
Don't get me wrong, I could live with it staying pure water since it's awesome defensive typing, but I'm a little wary of making it Water/Dragon considering, stats/lore-wise, it's supposed to be the opposite of Gyrados, and that would make them the same type.
The best-case scenario tbh would be staying pure Water, but getting some kind of Mega to switch the typing up if needed, but given that Milotic's already pretty damn strong I'm not sure it's necessary (lol Salamence tho)

I avoided the trailer since i wasn't really hyped, i felt it was too early for a new gen and thought they were going to reuse a lot from XY/ORAS, Saw the design of the starters, the fire starter wins again for me, not really fond of Rowlett design, and absolutely hate Popplio, but probably will change once I see the evolutions, After seeing the trailer i gotta say, i was impressed, i noticed that they are not using super chibi models anymore for the overworld, which i really like, and also they got rid off the circles below pokemon in battles, it reminded me of colossuem/XD, I really love this change
Legendaries, i dont have a lot to say, i like the moon legendary,
Character customization is back, nice
Overall Hype level 8.5/10 Give me one more trailer that shows new stuff

Remember the Mew event from February? For those who missed it (note: those who already receive it in February can't obtain another), you can subscribe to Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter and receive the Mew code in June.

Since I do own a NA copy of Pokemon but I don't live in NA, I can obtain one.

Okay, so this image shows merchandise for the upcoming movie:

But one thing doesn't seem right. According to Bulbapedia, all Pokémon that appear here will be in this movie, except for Riolu. Why is Riolu included in here anyways?

Adam Said:

Possibilities in order from most to least probable:
A, Riolu will be in the movie, or at least be in the pre-movie short animation.
B, Riolu is so popular its essentially the mascot for the DS/3DS era. So its face is plastered everywhere Pikachu's Face is not.
C, Riolu is going to have a special event.

Not sure if I should have put it as "DS/3DS" era or just "DS" era… But unless Gen 7 is as big a jump as it feels right now, that will do for now.

I can't understand a word of this, but seeing Kizaru's face on a Pikachu made it a worth-while watch.

Do you have more details about this? What do you mean by "changing the names" Is it just localization (turning Mukuroh into Rowlet) or more than that?

Yes, for example, the video shows:
Pikachu is pronouced Béi kā chīu in cantonese but now follows the mandarin Chinese of Pí kǎ qiū.
Píkǎqiū sounds fine in Mandarin but sounds terrible in cantonese.
