About

Encanto is an upcoming Disney animated musical starring Stephanie Beatriz and featuring songs by Lin Manuel Miranda. The film follows 15-year-old Mirabel, a Colombian girl whose entire family, the Madrigals, has a special gift or power except for her. Mirabel learns about a threat to everyone's magical powers that only she can fix. The film is set to release on November 24th, 2021.

History

Encanto was first teased by Lin Manuel Miranda as a secret project in an interview with Vulture[7] in 2016.

Trailer

On July 8th, 2021, Disney released a trailer for Encanto to their YouTube[1] channel, garnering over 3.1 million views in roughly 24 hours and receiving widespread praise from many online (shown below).



The trailer inspired significant hype on Twitter, where users tweeted out their praise for the film's Latino characters and setting, as well as general praise for the artistic direction of the film. On July 8th, for example, @crayfishcoffee tweeted out a Finally, X meme praising the film for focusing on the Latino community (shown below).
