Origin

According to EXIF data taken from the original GIF sent by DansGaming to Twitch, the image was created on February 12th, 2010.^[6]

Spread

On February 9th, 2016, tweeted the original GIF file for the emote.^[1] On March 24th, Urban Dictionary^[3] user javiwe submitted an entry for "DansGame," defining it as a "Twitch emote that is often used to show revulsion and disgust".

On April 27th, 2017, the DansGame emote was include in an article on The Daily Dot^[5] titled "A beginner’s guide to the most-used Twitch emotes." On July 11th, FrankerFaceZ^[4] user legendaryflaco submitted a variation of emote for the custom Twitch extension (shown below).
