Elon Musk and Barron Trump Reaction refers to a video of entrepreneur Elon Musk and Donald Trump's son Barron Trump in which two display drastically different reactions, with Musk being overly excited and Trump acting reserved. Taken at Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony, the video achieved popularity as a caption format in late January 2024.
Origin
On January 20th, 2025, during his inauguration speech, Donald Trump talked about the United States' goal to put its astronauts and its flag on the planet Mars.[1] Entrepreneur Elon Musk, whose long term has been a human mission to Mars, reacted to the mention of the planet with elation, smiling and showing a thumbs up to the camera, while Donald Trump's son Barron, standing next to him, had a reserved reaction (full speech video shown below; 24:55 mark).

Notably, Elon Musk and Barron Trump did not in fact stand next to each other at the ceremony as they were separated by another guest, although the camera perspective obscures this.
On that day, X[2][3] users @Acyn and @cb_doge were first to share Musk's reaction on the platform, with their posts garnering over 1 million views and 2.2 million views in three days, respectively (upload by @cb_doge) shown below.

Starting on that day, users on X / Twitter posted caption memes and jokes based on the video, making jokes about Musk, Trump, and their reactions. On that day, X[4] user @valplusseven wrote, "holy shit baron fucking hates him", with the post (shown below) gaining over 13,000 reposts and 375,000 likes in three days.

Later that day, X[5] user @bellanati0n made a joke about Barron Trump being too distracted thinking about his "art major non-binary crush" at his university, with the post (shown below) gaining over 8,900 reposts and 271,000 likes in three days.

Also on January 20th, X[6] user @AutismCapital captioned the video, "Inside of you there are two autists.", referencing Musk's Asperger's syndrome. The post (shown below) received over 340 reposts and 3,800 likes in three days.
