Overview

The Dixie D'Amelio Saying the N-Word Video, also known as Dixie D'Amelio N-Word Controversy, refers to outrage over a viral video allegedly showing Charli D'Amelio's sister Dixie D'Amelio saying the N-word. The video was a recording of a Snapchat story posted by a user named mimi white on an unknown date. The video resurfaced in August 2024 on Twitter / X and TikTok, earning reactions and memes en masse.

Background

On August 5th, 2024, X[1] user @user8224536 posted a video allegedly showing Dixie D'Amelio saying the N-word. The tweet was deleted but quotes of it remained on X.[2] Also, X[3] user @user8224536 reposted the video on August 9th after its deletion (shown below).


Sometime before August 7th, 2024, TikToker @yerurrkaam posted a screen-recording of @user8224536's tweet. The video was deleted in the following days, however, it was screen-recorded and reposted by Redditor[4] PrudentRegular24 to /r/LAinfluencersnark on August 7th, showing that it'd received over 1,100 likes in a day.

Online Reaction

After August 7th, 2024, TikTokers started using the TikTok sound[5] of @yerurrkaam's since-deleted video. TikTokers used the sound to post memes about Dixie D'Amelio allegedly using the N-word. For instance, on August 10th, TikToker[6] @bri_thebaddest3 posted a video with the sound, writing, "At this point I feel like every yt influencer/celebrity has a video of themselves saying n****," receiving over 5.5 million plays and 621,700 likes in two days (shown below, left).

Others made edits with the video and its audio. For instance, on August 11th, TikToker[7] @kimmykardashyyy remixed the audio into a song, gaining over 717,400 plays and 4,700 likes in a day (shown below, right).
