Overview
The Charli D'Amelio Coachella Dress Controversy, also known as Charli D'Amelio See-Through Dress At Revolve Festival, refers to discourse surrounding influencer Charli D'Amelio's 2024 Revolve Festival outfit, which many mistook as attire for Coachella 2024. The outfit was a see-through white dress that exposed her breasts and underwear. A video of D'Amelio dancing in the dress with two friends was uploaded to TikTok in April 2024 and went viral alongside several photos of her in the dress, inspiring criticism towards D'Amelio for wearing what some saw as an inappropriate dress, while others defended her, expressing how she's an adult who can wear what she wants. Charli D'Amelio responded to the controversy days later with a tongue-in-cheek video announcing that she "has nipples."
Background
On April 13th, 2024, Charli D'Amelio attended Revolve Fest, which ran at the same time as the second day of Coachella 2024. She was seen wearing a see-through white dress with no bra that exposed her breasts and underwear. On April 14th, D'Amelio uploaded several photos of herself wearing the dress to Instagram,[1] garnering over 1.1 million likes in five days (example shown below, left, center).
On the same day, TikToker[2] @gianina posted a video of D'Amelio and two friends dancing to Lay Bankz's song "Tell Ur GF" while wearing the dress, garnering over 15 million views in five days (screenshot shown below, right).
The dress inspired criticism from some towards D'Amelio for what they perceived as dressing too provocatively. For example, one of the top comments on her Instagram post, with over 12,000 likes, reads, "Since when did she start dressing like that," and another with over 7,000 likes reads, "Guys ik she’s 20 but even if she was 40 like she’s naked 💀."
The criticism subsequently inspired defense for D'Amelio, with another top comment with over 11,000 likes reading, "yall people forgot shes almost 20.. stop acting so sensitive nd get over it its just an outfit" (comment examples shown below).
Developments
The dress continued to inspire criticism and defense over the following days. On April 18th, 2024, D'Amelio responded to the criticism via a TikTok[3] video that garnered over 27.9 million views in a day (shown below). In the video, she makes a tongue-in-cheek response to the criticism and "admits" that she has nipples, ending the video, "that's all that I can say about this right now, I'm sorry."

Criticism and defense towards Charli D'Amelio's Revolve 2024 dress went viral online following its reveal in mid-April 2024. On April 16th, 2024, TikToker[4] @kierstenfiel posted a video expressing shock over the dress, garnering over 17 million views in three days (shown below, left).
On April 17th, TikToker[5] @allyydeell posted a video defending D'Amelio for the dress, mentioning that she's a grown adult, garnering over 2.3 million views in two days (shown below, right).
