Overview

KSI vs. Alex Wassabi was an upcoming boxing match between Youtubers KSI and Alex Wassabi. The feud between them started online when Alex Wassabi challenged KSI to a boxing match back in 2018. The fight has now reportedly been cancelled.

Background

On July 14th, 2018, KSI uploaded a video ^[1] titled "LAUGHING AT: ALEX WASSABI", where he mocks Alex, calling him a hypocrite, a pussy for backing out of a spar between them and "sucking up" to Logan Paul (his former boxing opponent). The video (shown below) has garnered over 9 million views in 3 years. The following year, KSI uploaded a video ^[2] titled "LAUGHING AT ALEX WASSABI V2", where he mocks Wassabi for getting knocked out by FouseyTube

Developments

2022 Resurgence of Feud

On March 5th, 2022, KSI's younger brother, Deji, faced off Alex Wassabi in a boxing match to which he lost

On March 8th, 2022, KSI uploaded a video ^[3] sharing his thoughts on Deji's loss, going off on him and that he lost to "a child in a grown man's body", referring to Wassabi. The video garnered nearly 6 million views in 4 months.

On March 9th, 2022, Alex Wassabi uploaded a video ^[4] calling out KSI for "talking down" on his brother and praised his hard work. He also calls KSI out for a boxing match stating, "Keep that weight up boy. Because if you think you're coming anywhere near my weight-class, I will humble you".

On March 20th, 2022, KSI responded to Wassabi ^[5] defending his video on his brother's loss and that he knows him better than Wassabi. KSI also mocked Wassabi for calling him out, "I am a different beast. If I set my mind to something, I accomplish it. Don't you fucking dare think you can humble me!"

On May 18th, 2022, Keemstar tweeted ^[6] at KSI with snapshot of Wassabi's Instagram story referring to KSI as "Big Deji" KSI responded ^[7], "If this is funny then American humour is falling off 😂😂 The idea that Alex thinks he’s at my level, now that is hilarious"

Fight Announcement

On June 30th, 2022, it was leaked that KSI vs. Alex Wassabi was the main event, while FaZe Temperrr vs. Blueface and Deji vs. Fousey was the undercard. On July 1st, KSI confirmed this and tweeted ^[8]: I can’t wait to repeatedly punch the man I’ve had beef with for years, the man I’ve laughed at for years, the man that beat my brother, the man that has signed his death wish as soon as we enter the ring. I’m a different animal & you will realise that fact on August 27th."

Cancellation

On August 5th, 2022, Keemstar broke a story on Twitter ^[9] where Wassabi allegedly got injured during training. There were 2 reports were a concussion and a broken hand were involved. Keemstar also suggested that Wassabi might pull out but the event will still go on and Wassabi be replaced. The following day, Wassabi confirmed the news on Instagram.
