Family Guy Singing Maroon 5's "Memories" refers to a parody cover song of Maroon 5's "Memories" performed by the voices of Family Guy characters Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin and Herbert the Pervert, among others. The original video was posted on YouTube in early 2020 and became a bait-and-switch trend in mid-2022 after a video cut from the Ace Attorney Clown Girl to Peter singing. It then trended on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and iFunny.

Origin

On January 21st, 2020, YouTuber^[1] Wirah uploaded an "Impersonation Parody Cover in 10+ VOICES" video for the song "Memories" by Maroon 5.^[2] The voices he used the song in were from both Family Guy and The Simpsons, including Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Herbert the Pervert, Glen Quagmire, Homer Simpson, Moe, Barney, Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns and Smithers. Over the course of two years, the video received roughly 561,000 views and 29,000 likes (shown below).

On April 21st, 2022, Instagram^[10] users nass_is_openly_a_pikmin and sincentslime2.0 collabed on a repost of the "Memories" cover, earning roughly 17,800 views and 2,700 likes over the course of four months (shown below). This is the first known memetic use of the song.

Continuing into May 2022, Instagram users nass_is_openly_a_pikmin and sincentslime2.0 continued to repost the Famly Guy cover. For instance, on May 8th, 2022, the two accounts collabed on an Instagram^[11] post that received roughly 4,200 views and 1,100 likes in three months.

In late June 2022 when Geiru Toneido the Ace Attorney Clown Girl was trending online in hornyposting and Clussy circles of meme discourse, an unknown meme creator made a moldy video that slide-transitioned from Geiru Toneido releasing her suspenders to Peter Griffin singing "Memories."

The first-known repost of this video was uploaded by Twitter^[3] user LmfaoWith on July 2nd, 2022, earning roughly 1.4 million plays and 68,600 likes in one month (shown below). It's likely that the video was created in a private Discord server or by an unknown Instagrammer or iFunnyer, however, this is currently unknown.

On July 4th, 2022, Twitter^[4] user Dat1zombie tweeted a screen-recording of a private Discord chat where their friend had sent them multiple Family Guy "Memories" videos from TikTok and Dat1zombie's played them simultaneously in the video. Over the course of one month, the video received roughly 2,600 views and over 95 likes (shown below, top). On July 5th, 2022, Twitter^[5] user KRoolMain5116 tweeted a screen-recording of the original YouTube video, earning roughly 51,300 views and 6,400 likes in one month (shown below, bottom). Also on July 5th, Twitter^[6] user crocidy tweeted the original YouTube video, earning roughly 45,100 views and 6,000 likes in the same time period.

On July 24th, 2022, iFunnyer^[7] EarlTurnersGhost_V6 posted a video meme that used the Family Guy "Memories" video and overlayed multiple memetic characters like Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, among others. In 12 days, the video received roughly 1,600 smiles (shown below).

In late July and early August 2022, the Family Guy "Memories" video was used on TikTok. For instance, on August 1st, 2022, TikToker^[8] rockos69 posted a sped-up remix of the song, earning roughly 74,600 plays and 10,600 likes in four days (shown below, left). Two days later, on August 3rd, 2022, TikToker^[9] rockos69 shared another TikTok that used the song, this time transitioning from an oddly satisfying metal shredder video. The TikTok received roughly 898,400 plays and 126,500 likes in two days (shown below, right).
