About

"I Just Wasted Ten Seconds of Your Life" is a term related to a Bait and Switch Video similar to Rickroll in which a viewer is tricked into watching a ten second video that states that they wasted ten seconds of their life.

Origin

The song "Crayons Could Melt On Us For All I Care" by Relient K was released with their album "Five Score and Seven Years Ago"[1] on the March 6, 2007 which included 14 songs on the CD, including this song which was track 11 and went for 0:12 seconds and only contained the following lyrics with a piano ballet in the background:

"I just wasted ten seconds of your life…"

Reception

Many critiques of the song were positive, commenting in ways such as:

"Crayons Can Melt On Us For All I Care" (a hilarious fragment) show Thiessen has lost none of his quirky ways" (Cross Rhythms)[2],
"'Crayons' is answering machine fodder, providing a quick guffaw" (Christianity Today International)[3]
"Setting aside the amusing twelve seconds of 'Crayons Can Melt On Us For All I Care'," (Absolute Punk)[4]

The song was then used heavily by people by making versions of this on the internet with characters of popular culture with either the song name or stating that the character has a message for you to hear.
