I Was Like…Woah Luv refers to a reaction image macro of Instagram user @yourgirlfriend22 with a wide-eyed blank expression on her face. The image has been edited to read "I was like…woah luv…tha caugh me off guard," expressing surprise.

Origin

The image was likely taken from an Instagram Stories post by @yourgirlfriend22 and has since been deleted. The earliest known usage of the image aside from a Story was posted by Twitter ^[1] user @miizu_. In this variation, the image is captioned "oh im for tha im all for tha" (shown below).

Spread

Over the next few months, the image was used as a reaction image to respond to various posts, using the image as an expression of agreement. On February 9, 2019, the image changed, when Twitter^[2] user @anuscosgrove, replacing the text to read "I was like…woah luv…tha caugh me off guard." They captioned the post, "me when he breaks every bone in my body." Within five months, the post received more than 290 likes (shown below, left).

The variation of the image inspired other memes. For example, on February 19th, Twitter^[3] user @hobichuu posted a selfie with the phrase as a caption (shown below, center).

On April 30th, 2019, Twitter^[4] user @reactionroll included the image in a thread compiling @yourgirlfriend22 reaction images. The post received more than 3,300 likes and 500 retweets in three months (shown below, right).

On May 7th, Redditor ^[5] equitare posted the in the /r/APStudents subreddit with the caption "when the diagram is a circuit but the question asks about mechanical energy and height of an object" (shown below). The post received more than 330 points (99% upvoted).
