I'm So Julia or So Julia is a slang term and catchphrase derived from the lyrics "I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia" in the song "360" by Charli XCX. The lyrics reference model and actress Julia Fox and her far-reaching presence, making it seem like she is "everywhere." As a slang term, saying something or someone is "so Julia" essentially means they are popular, iconic and omnipresent. Julia Fox has described it as meaning "being confident, putting yourself out there, being out, being about, being the center of attention" and "just being that bitch." The phrase is often used alongside other memes and posts inspired by Charli XCX's 2024 album brat, including Brat Summer memes.

Origin

On December 1st, 2023, Interview Magazine^[1] published a transcript of a conversation between Charli XCX and Julia Fox. At one point, Charli XCX talks about the then-unreleased song "360," specifically the lyrics "I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia," mentioning that the lyrics are about Julia Fox and how she "basically started every trend in 2022." She is quoted as saying:

"Before even reading your book, I wrote this song, which is basically about how you started every trend of 2022. And there’s this line in it that goes, 'I’m everywhere. I’m so Julia,' as in, I’m the fucking reference. I’m everywhere like Julia Fox is everywhere."

Charli XCX began to tease the song in late April 2024 on TikTok,^[2] specifically teasing the section that includes the lyrics "I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia." Fans began to speculate on what the lyric meant leading up to its release on May 10th, 2024. For example, on May 3rd, a Redditor made a post to the subreddit /r/charlixcx^[3] asking what the lyrics mean, garnering over 100 upvotes in two months.

Memes using the phrase started appearing online that month. While the earliest known meme is unconfirmed, one of the earliest discoverable examples was posted on May 12th, 2024, by Instagram^[4] user still_on_a_downward_spiral, garnering over 10,000 likes in two months (shown below).

On May 31st, the Zach Sang Show YouTube^[5] page posted a clip from an interview with Julia Fox in which he asks what the lyric means, garnering over 4,700 views in a month (shown below). In the clip, Fox explains that it means "Just being that girl […] being confident, putting yourself out there, being out, being about, being the center of attention. Just being that bitch."

On June 7th, 2024, Charli XCX released brat, which features "360" on the tracklist. The lyrics and term "so Julia" garnered further popularity over the following months alongside other brat-inspired memes. On June 12th, TikToker^[6] @kamgang_1 posted a video of a crowd singing the lyrics at a Charli XCX concert, garnering over a million views in a month (shown below, left).

On July 3rd, TikToker^[7] @wretchedheart posted a video lip dubbing to the lyrics under a caption reading, "not exactly sure what 'I'm Julia' means but yes!" garnering over 530,000 views in three weeks (shown below, right).

On July 6th, 2024, TikToker^[8] @flextillerson posted an edit of Kamala Harris clips set to "360" that at one point uses a banner reading "I'm so Kamala," referencing the lyrics, garnering over 2.4 million views in two weeks (shown below).

On July 9th, 2024, Her Campus^[9] published an article on the lore surrounding the lyrics. On July 14th, X^[10] user @propaganda91 posted an image of baby Sylvester the cat sitting in a highchair labeled "spoiled brat," writing, "so julia," garnering over 5,600 likes in nine days (shown below, left). On July 16th, X^[11] user @broiledcrawfish posted an edit of the Eye of Sauron tinted Brat-green, writing, "I am everywhere. I am so julia," garnering over 23,000 likes in a week (shown below, right).
