"It's Me Austin!" is a memorable quote uttered by professional wrestler Mr.McMahon (played by Vince McMahon) after revealing himself as the "Greater Power" during the 1999 Raw is War show. Online, the scene has been frequently used in remix and parody videos.

Origin

During the Raw Is War held on June 7th, 1999, Vince McMahon revealed himself as the "Greater Power" which had been controlling a group of wrestlers against professional wrestler Steven "Stone Cold" Austin. During the reveal, McMahon yells "It's me, Austin!".[1] On July 21st, 2010, Youtuber SenorPwnage uploaded the scene where McMahon utters the phrase, gaining over 700,000 views in the following five years. Next year, on March 28th, 2011, Youtuber myriadbutts uploaded the whole scene, gaining over 400,000 views in the following four years.

On October 6th, 2011, IGN Forums user warrioRLink5 submitted a thread about the scene.[2] On November 6th, 2011, YouTuber Classic Wrestling uploaded a video titled "It's Me Austin, I was the turkey all along!", featuring a dubbed scene of Invader Zim, gaining over 5,000 views in the following four years (shown below).



On January 10th, 2014, YouTubers dick butt and Mann Goh uploaded a remix of the voice line with a scene from the anime series Kill la Kill, where character Shinjirō Nagita reveals as Nui Harune, one of the series antagonist. In less than two years, dick butt's video gained over 25,000 views, while Mann Goh's one gained over 13,000 views.

On August 16th, 2014, Youtuber googleygareth uploaded a video titled "Nick McMahon 2 – IT'S ME AUSTIN", featuring a Source Filmmaker remake of the scene with Nick from Left 4 Dead 2 as Mr. McMahon, getting over 41,000 views in a year. On August 29th, Tumblr user Wrestling Giffer uploaded a "Who's that Pokémon" parody of the scene,[3] getting over 8,400 notes in the following year and being adapted into a video version the next day by Youtuber Vince McMahon, gaining over 44,000 views in a year. On February 3rd, 2015, reddit user bad_joke_maker submitted a thread on The Flash subreddit asking about Zoomposting jokes, while user cleric3648 replied him with "It's Me Austin" story.[5] The quote has also gained notoriety on sites like 4chan,[4] where it has been used as phrasal template, and Tumblr.[3]
