Kazuya Drops Kirby Off a Cliff is a moment from the DLC fighter announcement trailer announcing Kazuya Mishima from Tekken would be joining the roster of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. During the trailer, Kazuya drops several Smash fighters into a pit of lava. When he tries to do the same with Kirby, Kirby floats back to safety. Parodies of the moment grew popular online immediately after the trailer was released. These included edits here Kazuya dropped characters from other franchises into the pit.

Origin

On June 15th, 2021, at Nintendo's E3 Direct presentation, Nintendo announced that Kazuya Mishima from Tekken would join the roster of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate as the next DLC fighter. In the trailer, Kazuya drops Ganondorf and Captain Falcon into a pit of lava before he drops Kirby, who floats back to safety (shown below).

The moment was quickly parodied by Smash fans on social media. DitzyFlama posted an edited version of the clip where Kirby falls into a chasm, gaining over 3,400 retweets and 11,000 likes in less than three hours (shown below, top). User @darthwebhead posted a GIF of a floating man parodying the moment, gaining over 480 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below, bottom).

Other parodies include a post from @Kesa_040^[1] which used the Moe Tossing Barney Out template and gained over 170 retweets and 440 likes (shown below, left). User @KamiThecookie^[2] posted a reversed example with Kirby dropping Kazuya, gaining over 8,400 retweets and 26,000 likes (shown below, right).
