About

Kratos Mispronouncing In Spanish, also known as Sad Kratos Speech Bubble, refers to a two-panel exploitable meme template showing God of War character Kratos looking over his shoulder, seeing an image macro and then mispronouncing it in a speech bubble with the mispronunciation sounding Spanish. The original meme was created by Instagram user absolutenutcase162 in late 2022. The format trended en masse on Brazilian iFunny in 2023, as the mispronunciations originally sounded Portuguese. The format resurfaced on Twitter / X in 2024.

Origin

On November 29th, 2022, Instagram[1] user @absolutenutcase162 posted a four-panel comic using a scene from God of War: Chains of Olympus known in memes as the "Press O to abandon your daughter" scene.[2][3] In the meme, Kratos turns over his shoulder to see SpongeBob and turns back to say, "sponge bop." Over two years, the meme earned roughly 40,000 likes (shown below).
