Origin

On September 2nd, 2024, TikToker^[1] @kai_lanier posted a video, telling his viewers, "Do not look up the Napkin Skirt video. You will be in tears." The TikToker was seen greenscreened in front of another video posted by a different, unknown user. The other user said that she was in art class when she was flashed by a girl wearing a type of mini skirt called a "napkin skirt." It's currently unconfirmed who the user is.

TikToker^[1] @kai_lanier's video that reacted to the original received roughly 4.9 million plays and 88,900 likes in a month (shown below). It is currently unconfirmed who the original user is in the video. Some in the comments alleged that it was a TikToker^[2] named @salmaadaya whose account is currently private.

Spread

On September 3rd, 2024, TikToker^[3] @walterconahan reacted to the alleged Napkin Skirt Video and explained its contents further, saying that the girl in the napkin skirt was not wearing the "proper" clothing items underneath her skirt. The TikToker's video on the topic received over 7.5 million plays and 961,100 likes in a month (shown below).

In the following months, other TikTokers^[4][5] reposted the abovementioned videos but made them into Sludge Content, seemingly to farm engagement. These videos received thousands of views and likes, prolonging interest and furthering the notoriety of the alleged Napkin Skirt Video.
