About
Just a Robot, also known as JAR, is an American YouTuber best known for his sociopolitical commentary and review videos, and, notably, videos in which he criticizes social justice in media. The distinctive feature of the channel is the robot persona and voice used by the creator. In September 2023, the YouTuber became a viral subject of discussions and memes on X as users admitted to being influenced by the YouTuber when they were younger, with users also making edits of JAR's robot persona.
Online History
On July 26th, 2013, YouTuber Just a Robot launched his first YouTube[1] channel, posting commentary videos about sociopolitical issues and controversial YouTubers. The oldest public video[2] on the channel was uploaded on October 14th, 2015, receiving over 17,000 views in seven years (shown below, left). On October 24th, 2017, Just a Robot posted the most-viewed video[3] on the channel, a criticism of YouTuber Lily Orchard, that gained over 860,000 views in six years (shown below, right).
On May 9th, 2015, Just a Robot created his second channel,[4] which eventually surpassed the original channel, climbing to over 200,000 subscribers in eight years, which diverted his primary focus to media reviews and criticisms of various content creators. On December 18th, 2018, the channel uploaded its most-viewed video, "ItsAnimeGirl Does Not Understand Dragon Ball Super," which received over 920,000 views in five years[5] (shown below, left).
In 2023, the outro song used by the channel in the past achieved significant notoriety as it was used in memes and parodied on social media (shown below).

Reputation and Criticisms
Just a Robot is best known for his robot persona and voice filter in his videos. Over the years, Just a Robot was involved in multiple feuds and controversies, including past allegations of pedophilia, death threats and lying. According to Just a Robot's own admission, he struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts.[6]

Meme Popularity
In 2023, Just a Robot achieved popularity as a meme as several posts about the YouTuber went viral on X / Twitter in August and September 2023. On March 3rd, 2023, X[7] user @netsoupp posted a Trans People: I'm Trans meme using Just a Robot's old outro, which received over 80 retweets and 550 likes on the site in six months (shown below).

On August 13th, 2023, X[8] user @B00K0FTRIBE quoted an image of a JUST A ROBOT's Yes Chad video thumbnail, commenting, "I don’t think a YouTube thumbnail has ever smelled before until now." The post (shown below, left) received over 2,100 retweets and 46,600 likes in one month. On September 16th, X[9] user @Demonpizzaidc posted an image of Just a Robot's YouTube channel icon, blaming the YouTuber for influencing their opinions when they were younger. The post (shown below, right) received over 1,500 retweets and 15,700 likes.
In late September 2023, more posts about Just a Robot went viral on X, including redraws of Just a Robot's robot persona.[10]
