About
Nara Smith is a German-South African influencer and model residing in LA who is notable for her cooking videos and her persona that many have described as "trad." She is the wife of model Lucky Blue Smith and became famous online for elaborate cooking videos describing recipes she makes for Lucky Blue and their children. She converted to Mormonism after marrying Lucky Blue and has been criticized by some online for her supposed promotion of conservative religious views, often labeling or associating her with the term "tradwife."
Career
Nara Smith is between 22 and 28 years old, but there are conflicting reports about her age.[3] She married model Lucky Blue Smith in February 2020,[4] which he announced via an Instagram Reel (seen below) that received over 2.5 million views in four years (seen below).[5]
Lucky Blue is Mormon and Nara converted to that faith after marrying him. Unconventional names such as "Lucky Blue," or the names of the couple's children, Rumble Honey (born 2020) and Slim Easy (born 2022), are common in Mormon culture.[6] A TikTok of Nara listing possible baby names (seen below, left) received over 1.1 million likes and 13.1 million views in two months after being posted on December 27th, 2023.[7]
Nara Smith's posting on social media, particularly TikTok, revolves around family life and homemaking, as well as more conventional model-type photographs of herself and Lucky Blue. Many of her posts highlight her pregnant body as well, like the one (seen below, right) posted on December 20th, 2023, which earned over 191,000 likes and 2.9 million views in two months.[8]

Nara Smith's cooking videos have also gained viral attention, particularly for her insistence on making all ingredients from scratch. Her video (seen below, left) posted on January 11th, 2024, documenting the construction of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of raw peanuts, berries and homemade bread received over 1.6 million likes and over 12.9 million views in a month.[9] A similar video (seen below, right) of Nara making Oreos from scratch for Lucky Blue earned over 871,000 likes and 6.2 million views in five days after posting on February 18th, 2024.[10]

As of February 2024, Nara Smith has 2.2 million TikTok followers and has consistently posted on that platform since May 2023.[1] On Instagram, Smith has over 900,000 followers as of February 2024 and has been active since November 2016.[2]
Nara Smith's fame has attracted analysis and criticism among certain users online, with some characterizing her content as "Mormon propaganda," pointing out perceived racism in some Mormon history and scripture.
For example, TikToker @sabiesbooks received over 545,000 likes and 5.9 million views in a month on January 23rd, 2024, (seen below, left) describing Mormon scriptural ideas about race and calling out Nara Smith.[11] Others have objected to Smith's "traditional" values, with outlets like @thenewsmovement on TikTok (seen below, right) describing the controversy on January 14th and receiving over 88,000 likes and 2 million views in a month.[12]
