About

Perkio, also known as Smurk, Fake Lil Durk, Lil Durk Twin or Lil Durk Lookalike, is a TikToker who's the doppelgänger of rap artist Lil Durk. In early 2022, he grew a following on TikTok and eventually met Lil Durk and other rappers like 6ix9ine. He was then trolled by 6ix9ine and tricked into wearing a King Von jacket. Additionally, he posted collab videos with a Drake lookalike, or "Fake Drake."

Origin

On January 30th, 2022, Perkio, whose handle is @darealperkio, posted his first TikTok,[1] simply being a video of him playing soccer. Over the course of three months, it received roughly 180,100 plays and 7,100 likes (shown below, left). The video is most likely not his first-ever video. Perkio went back and deleted old videos in early 2022 as is evident in TikTok comments left on his videos in March 2022.[2]

On February 4th, 2022, Perkio posted a video[3] that received roughly 2.9 million plays and 497,700 likes in two months (shown below, right). This TikTok kickstarted his following.

In late March 2022, Perkio got blonde dreads. After doing so, he and his followers realized he looked like Lil Durk. On March 21st, 2022, he posted a TikTok[4] that played with this idea, earning roughly 199,000 plays and 7,400 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 22nd, 2022, he posted another video[5] that joked about the resemblance, earning roughly 154,900 plays and 4,600 likes in one month (shown below, center).

On March 26th, 2022, he posted a video[6] that had a text overlay reading, "'meeting lil Durk finna be like.'" In one month, it received roughly 4 million plays and 537,900 likes (shown below, right). This aforementioned video made him more well-known as the Lil Durk lookalike.

On April 5th, 2022, Lil Durk took notice of Perkio, reposting one of his girlfriend's TikToks to Instagram [7] and writing, "OMG WHAT HAPPEN TO SMURK," in the description. Over the course of four weeks, the video received roughly 5.9 million views and 1 million likes (shown below). Additionally, other rappers like Lil Yachty posted comments, reacting to the doppelgänger.



On April 7th, 2022, YouTuber King Cid posted a video titled, "Fake Lil Durk Prank At The Mall! SHUT DOWN" in which Perkio was brought to a mall in Florida to interact with fans as if he was really Durk. Over the course of three weeks, the video received roughly 1.7 million views (shown below, left).

On April 14th, 2022, Perio went on Instagram Live with Lil Durk. A screen recording was reposted to YouTube on the same day by the channel ALL URBAN CENTRAL where it received roughly 201,100 views in two weeks (shown below, right).



On April 19th, 2022, Lil Durk and Perkio met in person. A photograph was taken and posted to Twitter[8] by the account RapAllStars where it received roughly 133,800 likes in 10 days (shown below).

Perkio, 6ix9ine and King Von

On April 26th, 2022, rapper 6ix9ine had reportedly "ambushed" Perkio to make a video with him. It ended up being a ploy to make Perkio where a jacket with deceased rapper King Von on the back of it, a known friend of Durk's who he mourned. Perkio posted his own video that detailed the ambush. Rap personality DJ Akademiks posted his own long-form video too including every detail of the event like Lil Durk's response on Instagram Live. The YouTube video received roughly 949,600 views over the course of three days (shown below).



Additionally, the scandal prompted responses from other rappers like 42 Dugg. Nelk Boys member SteveWillDoIt was subsequently blamed for the video by helping 6ix9ine, however, he denied the accusations.[11]

Fake Lil Durk and Fake Drake

On April 24th, 2022, Perkio posted a collab video[9] with a Drake lookalike, earning roughly 547,200 plays and 60,000 likes in five days (shown below, left). He posted a second video[10] on April 24th of him and the fake Drake, earning roughly 324,500 plays and 19,900 likes in five days (shown below, right).
