About
Pineapple Dapping Up the Whole Fruit Bowl is a coded, slang catchphrase, part of the Fruit Code Names for Crushes trend, predominantly used by women on TikTok in which "fruit bowl" is code for the men that the woman has slept with (or, alternatively, all of her crushes) and "pineapple" is code for the man that she is currently sleeping with (or, alternatively, just one of her crushes). Inherently, the verb "dapping," or "to dap," is a modern, AAVE term for a shake-like greeting that is commonplace among straight men. In turn, women reference pineapple dapping up the fruit bowl as a way to portray shock or disgust over how all the men that she has slept with (or has crushes on) know each other, likely to be awkward in the long-run. Women making fruit-based code names for their crushes or partners became a viral topic on TikTok in early 2023, leading to the creation of the "dapping up the whole fruit bowl" joke later in the year.
