Sonic Singing, also known as AI Sonic Singing, refers to a series of AI viral videos showing Sonic the Hedgehog singing viral meme songs in different languages in the 2001 game Sonic Adventure. Sonic Singing memes surfaced en masse across TikTok and YouTube in September 2024, predominantly made by YouTuber AtariX. Sonic was seen singing the Indian meme song "Mundian To Bach Ke," the Chinese song "Super Idol" and Jason Derulo's song "Shimmy Shimmy Ya," among others. In viral video compilations, many called the videos Sonic Singing Core.

Origin

On August 11th, 2024, YouTuber[1] AtariX shared a video in which they used an AI voice to show Sonic (in Sonic Adventure) singing the Gegagedigedagedago song. Over a month, the video received roughly 9,500 views (shown below).

Spread

The abovementioned video began a series of AI Sonic videos shared by YouTuber AtariX going in the following weeks. For instance, on September 3rd, 2024, AtariX posted a YouTube[2] video of Sonic singing the Indian song "Mundian To Bach Ke," gaining over 14,100 views in three weeks (shown below).

On September 10th, the YouTuber[3] shared a compilation of AI Sonic memes, including multiple videos of Sonic singing. Over 17 days, the video received roughly 501,800 views (shown below).

During the same timeframe, AtariX's videos were reposted to TikTok by other people and original iterations also surfaced on the new app. For instance, on September 15th, TikToker[4] @elraymanpadre posted an iteration in which Sonic sings the "I'm a Bun" song from The Amazing World of Gumball in Spanish, receiving over 2.4 million plays and 503,600 likes in 12 days (shown below).

On September 21st, TikToker[5] @denizz_dede posted a compilation of YouTuber AtariX's videos, calling them, "sonic singing core," in text overlay, amassing over 31.5 million plays and 6.1 million likes in six days (shown below).

In September 2024, AtariX started using different Sonic characters in their videos, such as Knuckles singing "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" in a YouTube[6] video posted on September 13th, gaining over 15,900 views in two weeks (shown below).
