The Coconut Song (a.k.a. "Da Coconut Nut) is a novelty song written by Filipino Artist Ryan Cayabyab. The song gained popularity after a slideshow video that features the lyrics. [1]
Origin
The song is composed by Filipino National Artist Ryan Cayabyab for the band Smokey Mountain in 1991. The song's lyrics describes the uses of the different parts of a coconut tree. According to the artist, the song was composed in the novelty style popularized by Yoyoy Villame, whom at times the song was incorrectly attributed to.
Spread
The song's popularity on the internet comes from a slideshow video on YouTube by the user J3FFL4U on September 15, 2010 [2], which has been taken down due to copyright issues, one of the many reuploads of the song is by the user AstroPlays on January 26, 2017. (shown below)
