Twilight Comics are multi-pane vertical images that consist of screen captures from the 2008 romance fantasy film Twilight and various captions mocking the main characters portrayed within the movie.

Origin

The romantic vampire film Twilight, based off the novel by Stephanie Meyer, premiered in Los Angeles, California on November 17th, 2008. The leading female role of Isabella Swan was played by Kristen Stewart who falls in love with the vampire Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson. According to the entertainment news site Variety[11], the film grossed over $7 million in sales from the midnight shows on opening night. It has received mixed reviews with a Rotten Tomatoes[13] score of 49% and a Metacritic[12] score of 56 as of November 18th, 2011.

One of the earliest known comic instances comes from the first-person shooter video game enthusiast Global Fortress[1] forums on June 20th, 2009. It featured a 4-pane comic using screen captures from a science classroom scene in the first Twilight film.

The same comic was posted to the blog My Confined Space[8] on July 15th, 2009. A variation of the strip was posted to FunnyJunk[3] on December 3rd, 2009. On March 17th, 2010, several Twilight comics and image macros were posted to the Korean pop music Soompi[4] forums. Flickr[9] user Furrtwo uploaded a comic on September 3rd, 2010. Various Twilight comics can be found on the humor blog Comixed[2], FunnyJunk[5], Tumblr[7] and 9gag.[6]
