"Wanna Make Out?" Nod is a redraw meme format based on a comic panel in which a woman nods emphatically as another woman asks if she wants to make out. The panel is from the 2015 comic Only Lovers by Sophia Foster-Dimino and was published in 2015. The panel was first redrawn by Tumblr user eavee-ry in July 2023 and slowly became the subject of further redraws over the following years. In March 2025, the panel was posted to X / Twitter and went viral, inspiring a significant boost in popularity on sites including X, Reddit and Tumblr.

Origin

In 2015, artist Sophia Foster-Dimino published the comic Only Lovers, which tells the story of a teenage girl who regularly sneaks off with her friend J, both of whom have boyfriends, to make out at the beach. While at the beach, the girls witness someone drive into the ocean, wonder if they should call the cops, but decide to continue making out instead. The comic was released on Foster-Dimino's website^[1] and in a physical form by Broken Frontier.^[2]

On July 14th, 2023, Tumblr^[3] user eavee-ry posted a redraw of a panel from the comic in which J nods and blushes as her friend asks, "Wanna make out?" garnering over 650 notes in two years. The redraw is based on Total Drama Island and is the earliest known redraw based on the panel.

On May 4th, 2024, the isolated panel in which J nods emphatically while her friend asks if she wants to make out was posted by Facebook^[4] user Lit Yuri Memes, garnering over 7,700 reactions and 2,400 shares in 10 months.

On June 27th, X^[5] user @fruitykyuungg_ posted a redraw based on Delicious In Dungeon that gained over 62,000 likes and 5,900 reposts in nine months.On September 7th, Tumblr^[6] user s1lly-squ1d posted another redraw of the meme based on Delicious In Dungeon, garnering over 32,000 notes in six months.

On March 16th, 2025, X^[7] user @raoraocat posted the panel next to another original redraw of the panel based on the anime series Delicious In Dungeon, garnering over 82,000 likes and 4,200 reposts in five days. This post gave the format a significant boost in popularity.

On March 17th, X^[8] user @pieroshiki posted a redraw of the meme as a quote-repost of @raoraocat's post based on characters from Blue Lock, garnering over 4,900 likes in four days.

On March 18th, X^[9] user @Lavb_b posted a redraw based on the game Slay the Princess that garnered over 3,700 likes in three days. It was reposted to /r/slaytheprincess^[10] that day, garnering over 1,400 upvotes in the same span of time.

On March 19th, X^[11] user @3lluon posted a version of the meme replacing the characters with Superman and Batman, garnering over 8,399 likes in two days. On March 21st, u/Nica-Sama posted a version of the meme based on Squid Game to /r/traaaaaaaaaaaansbians,^[12] garnering over 960 upvotes in around four hours.
