Whining Dog, also known as German Shepherd Whining or the Hm Hm Hm Hm Dog, refers to a series of brainrot video edit memes using a clip of a German Shepard dog whining. Originally posted on TikTok in August 2025, the Whining Dog meme video was given several CapCut effects and filters in subsequent edits, which devolved the original video and the audio of the dog whining. Other video caption memes wrote the whining's onomatopoeia and the Chart Increasing and Chart Decreasing Emojis in the caption, commonly written as, "Hm📈hm📉 hm📉 hm-hm📈 hm📈 hm📉 hm-hm📈📈📈📈📈📈."

On August 3rd, 2025, TikToker[1] @pet.pet.pet.pet.pet shared a video of a German Shepard whining. The dog is seen sitting on the floor and looking up at the person with the camera. Over three months, the video received over 15 million plays and 2.7 million likes. The video's original source is currently unknown, as @pet.pet.pet.pet.pet is a repost page that shares animal videos.

On September 1st, 2025, Instagram[2] user @thwomp25 shared a video that began with the Whining Dog video, paired with a caption reading, "Hm📈hm📉 hm📉 hm-hm📈 hm📈 hm📉 hm-hm📈📈📈📈📈📈." The video continued showing other German Shepard clips sourced from Instagram accounts. The watermark on the first clip, reading @dogg, links to a page with no posts as of writing. Over two months, @thwomp25's Reel received over 241,900 likes.
On September 22nd, TikToker[3] @iamsoldier_boy shared a video edit meme using the Whining Dog clip that they tagged with Lobotomy and Void. Over two months, the video gained over 124,500 likes.
