Woman Pushing Bear Off Fence refers to viral TikTok in which home-security footage shows a woman pushing a bear away from her dogs before collecting the dogs and running inside. The video gained millions of likes and views on the platform and inspired remixes.

Origin

On June 1st, 2021, TikTok user bakedlikepie[1] posted a video captioned, "My cousin Hailey yeeted a bear off her fence today and saved her dogs. How was your Memorial Day?! (WTF?!)." The video shows a bear on a fence protecting her cubs from dogs in a backyard. The bear starts swiping at the barking dogs before a woman enters the frame, pushes the bear off the fence, and ushers her dogs into the house. The video gained over 63 million views and 9.3 million likes on TikTok in one day (shown below).

Spread

The video spread to Reddit, where it gained over 1,100 likes on /r/PublicFreakout.[2] It also spread widely on Twitter, as people commented on the woman's bravery. It was tweeted by @55mmbae,[3] where gaining over 9.3 million views on the platform.



As the video spread, it reminded many of a freestyle by rapper Mystikal with the lyric, "I make a motherf***er say oh yeah! I’m colder than a lion with no hair…If you ever see me fighting in the forest with a grisly bear, HELP THE BEAR!"[4] User @JOEWRIGHT edited the footage to play the freestyle over the video, gaining over 6,900 retweets and 24,000 likes (shown below). User @Supreme_Khai[5] did the same, gaining over 3,900 retweets and 14,000 likes. The parodies caused "Help The Bear" to trend on Twitter[6] that day.



Twitter user Roy Wood also remixed the video, setting it to "Regulate" by Warren G (shown below).



In a follow-up TikTok, the woman in the video, Hailey, explained that neither the dogs, the bear, nor herself were seriously injured by the encounter.
