This comic, from 2015, illustrates friction in English-speaking internet circles. During the Japanese Monster Girl boom of the mid-2010's, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou was bringing conventions and nomenclature from the Japanese monster community into the English-speaking monster community.

English monster enthusiasts had, at the time and especially on sites like DeviantArt, conventionally called a monster with a human upper-body and a snake tail for a lower body a "Naga". This term had been in use for at least a decade before this comic came out (e.g. by artists like Karbo). In contrast, Japanese monster enthusiasts used "Lamia" to refer to this monster.
