is the word used in Japanese for these people. Literally translated it means "mans daughter". Over there people who we might term cross dressers, drag queens, as well as full post op transsexuals may use this word. "Trap" characters as they are known in the west are a subset of otokonoko who are not drawn to be obvious thus leaving transphobic western men feeling trapped. It is important to remember in fiction and in real life Transgender CD TV or TS women are not doing it to "trap" you. In the case of manga and anime, it would be the artist trying to trap you if that is indeed their motive

It may just be that the artist of these particular works like transwomen / otokonoko, however they self identifiy and want to include them in their world.
