What Is The 'Backrooms' Architect Meme?

Backrooms is a horror movie based on a 4chan post-turned-creepypasta directed by YouTuber Kane Parsons. The movie is about a furniture salesman, Clark, and his therapist, Mary, who find a dimension of liminal spaces in his furniture store.

In one scene, Clark yells at his therapist about how unfulfilled he is as a furniture salesman. He says, "I am a f------ architect! I'm just stuck selling s--- furniture because someone won't get off their fat f------ a-- and help me."

This scene became the centerpiece for an edit based on the movie, which is set to a Minecraft song, by TikToker @jur.aep in early June 2026. Then, on June 10th, TikToker @aaronck57 posted a meme where they set the scene to several images of basic, bad Minecraft builds, sparking a trend.

How Is 'I Am An Architect' Used In Memes?

As a meme, the clip from Backrooms is being used over images and videos of bad, basic or unskilled Minecraft builds. This includes everything from bizarre contraptions to houses made of dirt and more.

Some of the builds are not necessarily bad, but are moreso bizarre. Some versions of the meme divorce it from Minecraft to highlight another subject, like a bad Lego build.
